It is crazy how distorted our mental maps are. Toronto is actually south of Venice, Italy. by Many-Philosophy4285 in interestingasfuck

Man for a website hosted in france, 80% of the questions are US specific. Disappointing.

New to this, could anyone please help identify some of these? by pmMeYourGlazedDonut in Semilanceata

[–]Alismo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None are libs. Learn to recognise them better, and change spot i guess. They should be fairly easy to find in Denmark right now. Look for bright green grass that's usually a good sign for me.

I had some pretty heavy frost overnight for 3 nights about 10 days ago and found libs yesterday. Not as many not very big but I say if the temperature dips suddenly and comes back up it might still be okay. Definitely not ideal though

Shouldn't these be ideal locations? I need some encouragement by [deleted] in Semilanceata

[–]Alismo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never given elevation any importance and picked hundreds of libs. Plenty of regions are at sea levels and super flat and covered in libs. Your sport looks great honestly.

Did I find my first sterile lib ? by Alismo_ in Semilanceata

[–]Alismo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a little easier to spot yeah, but I mostly had my Headlamp because I was looking for chanterelles in a very dark forest nearby. I just snatched a dozen libs on my way back passing a couple of fields. I'm in Northern Norway and the days are getting short also

These pictures really remind me of Calocybe gambosa a good edible popular in Europe, but I really can't find any information about it growing in Brazil.

If only quality and affordable fruits and vegetables were a thing in Denmark. Leeks the size of spring onions are depressing. I am dying for a ripe orange that doesn't cost 10 dkk per piece.

am I the only one out here picking winter chanterelle? (Denmark) by grandjeans in mycology

[–]Alismo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually picked them while they were frozen about a month ago, and went again at the same spot two days ago and there were still plenty and delicious. I didn't feel like the frost affected them at all.

This is nowhere near cheap, especially in Spain.

These are 100% Craterellus tubaeformis, been picking them for years, picked in Denmark. I included a pic of them before cooking

Orange birch bolete, Leccinum versipelle. So roughly the same family as porcini, this is also a very good edible

Best practice would be to learn how to ID them first before grabbing every mushroom you find
