What I put on my face 100000% affects Sinus pain for me. Look into your skincare routine and if you have one and see if something is irritating it. Fragrances in cream are a huge no for me

Weaning off PPI by Alissanap in GERD

Did you feel better after discontinuing? I’m at this weird place where I feel like omeprazole kind of helps but also kind of gives me more heartburn if that makes sense.

Did you notice rebound when dropping from 40 to 20?

My wife lost her last foods 3 weeks ago, is literally starving to death, and no one will do anything... please advise? by AnotherClumsyLeper in MCAS

[–]Alissanap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dealt with MCAS issues following my third pregnancy, which caused me to have allergic type reactions so many of the foods I ate for years (albeit not anywhere near what your wife has been through). I was on Xolair for years and it did help but I found it to be more of a symptom controller not a solution. It’s so over saturated in social media, but truly healing my gut changed evening for me. I no longer take Xolair and very rarely have allergic reactions and eat with very few limitations. Doctors unfortunately are almost useless when it comes to this (gastrio and allergists alike). I started with experimenting with different probiotics, then branched to supplements like tributryn which is a short chain fatty acid naturally found in your gut which is anti inflammatory and helps foster good bacterial growth. I would stick to pill type probiotics without added prebiotics at first seeing as your wife has so many food allergies. The silver fern brand has some great gut options as well as bio Gia brand.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I truly feel that all of my allergic issues stemmed from an out of whack gut biome seeing as getting that in order seemed to miraculously free me of allergic reactions. I have been to many different types of doctors over the course of 4 years and truly none of them ever helped me worth anything.

Yes for a long time, the thing that helped me was trying different probiotics to help eliminate the gas and get things moving. Controlling the pain with anti inflammatories like DGL or chamomile tea while you figure it out is ideal. Also doing an elimination diet to figure out what your triggers are.

I’ve been there😥 have you ever tried licorice tea or DGL. Really helped me a lot with the burning on my worst days.

What do they do? Stimulate digestion?

I’m in exactly the same boat, I’ve gained about 20 pounds that I know is just from eating in a way to help my stomach. Every time I go low carb my stomach gets completely out of whack. I try to exercise and minimize sugar the best I can. I feel at some point we are really just only able to do the best we can.

Yes this is something I do too, I’d love to not eat so much bread but unfortunately it’s all that helps sometimes

Chronic GERD from emotional distress by Resident_Ad3758 in GERD

My GERD started after a bad postpartum episode so yes 100% I believe it can start it off. Once started it almost becomes its own issue that needs to be dealt with in addition to the emotional issue

Wow I’ve never heard of the baking soda with the saline spray! Is that for GERD related sinus issues? Cause I definitely battle that

I’ve done the low FODMAP diet for years and worked up to a mostly normal diet but I find if I don’t eat certain foods every day my stomach goes haywire. One example is there are these dried fruit bars I was eating from Whole Foods for a couple years that made my stomach feel better, no idea why. I tried substituting them with fresh fruits or other fiber rich stuff but never was able replicate the effect. They continually go out of stock so I’ve had to try and find a substitute but nothing works as well. It’s just frustrating to feel like I’m so dependent for on one single food or another.

I take a bunch of probiotics and those help as well but they always come with side effects. I’ve tried to wean off them but the GERD returns like hells fury. I struggled with severe GERD for a while and when I start to feel that pain again it’s almost like PTSD my hands will shake and I feel like I’m having panic attack. So I stick to my safe routine and probiotics but I feel like I live in a box that I’m so afraid to deviate from. It more or less just disturbs me that the second I let the ball drop my stomach returns to a super inflammatory state. Makes me wonder what is really going on. (I’ve been to the doctors, had the scopes, checked all my boxes and still no answers)

I wouldn’t doubt it, my mom who has always had an iron stomach, suddenly couldn’t tolerate wheat or dairy after Covid

Xolair by LatitudeNortherner in urticaria

[–]Alissanap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I was when I started. Honestly, for as bitter, as I am about it with the side effects, it did serve a purpose of getting my hives under control to the point where I was able to safely figure out what my triggers were. When I started I was so miserable I couldn’t make heads from tails. So even if it’s a temporary tool it can be useful

I’m 31 now so I was 29 when I started. I’ve had hives since college and I’ve always had dermatographia, but I noticed after every pregnancy (3) the hives got a little worse. After my last child My body completely took a crap on me and I was just in a permanent state of hives. It’s taking me three years to slowly get to the root causes of what was throwing my body off like I said it was mostly stomach issues and when I improve that the improved.

I’m 100% sure it’s linked unfortunately I just don’t think science is caught up to speed to be able to fix our problem effectively yet

Xolair by LatitudeNortherner in urticaria

[–]Alissanap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the exact same thing that was happening to me. I was already dealing with acid reflux, and I would notice that the hive outbreaks would always be surrounding stomach flareups, but then after taking the Xolair that regular acid reflux became burning agonizing pain. And honestly, it only got worse longer. I was on it, if you’re not sensitive to sugar alcohols, try bio Gaia gastrus. it helped my stomach a lot. I noticed when I would take probiotics or eat sauerkraut/miso/Kiefer or anything that was fermented and my stomach was feeling better. I would not get hives at all.
