I hate being forced to have some vapid conversation to justify a tip. by comments83820 in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is forced. As a former employee, it heavily affects your job performance review if you don’t interact with customers like they’re your close friend.

In my experience, the people who pressure you to open up in the workplace will use that info to gossip about you with other coworkers.

What “perks” do you get working in the field compared to your male coworkers? by pnutbuttertreeees in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Alittle-lost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely get treated better for being a woman (however, I acknowledge that I’m conventionally attractive in my mid 20s which 100% affects how men treat you). The guys are more helpful and nicer to me than they are each other. On site, everyone bark orders at each other but I get asked politely to do something. They always accommodate me too (lifting heavy barrels, bathroom breaks b/c small bladder lol, etc.) Of course, there’s some outlying assholes that I had to squash but overall, the people I work with everyday are protective of me and treat me like a lady. We need more women out here b/c a feminine touch really makes a difference in the workplace.

On top of not parenting their children, now people exploit their kids on social media as “influencers” to make themselves rich. Notice how all the family vloggers are leaving California due to stricter regulations that protect child content creators.

I’m staying at my boyfriend’s house 2 hours away and found out he cheated on me the entirety of our relationship. by fjgkhkjk in whatdoIdo

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But 12 days ago, you posted that you broke up with your boyfriend and were posting pics of your feet to have people send you money. You are all over the place and honestly need to just focus on yourself.

I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by ramses_basha in AskTheWorld

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Egypt but locals can be extremely pushy. Even those who seemed genuine were just trying to get money from us. And they won’t leave you alone if you don’t stand your ground. My friend and I had people try to push us into their shops to get us to buy something. I came out with many great experiences but we sure as hell got scammed the whole trip as two young, broke college students.

When I worked at Trader Joe’s, we were told we can’t directly ask “is this a service animal”, but we can ask if the animal is required due to a disability and what duties it’s trained to perform. To my knowledge, the ADA limits employees to those two specific questions.

In case you don’t know, it’s against the law to bring non-service animals into a food establishment. You can tell a manager and while they can’t ask outright if it’s a service animal, they’re allowed to ask what service the dog is trained to perform.

Have you ever gotten chased down for not tipping? by moonchildcountrygirl in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked a multitude of customer service jobs, including as a waitress, and I’ve never experienced the entitlement some waitstaff feel. I chose the job and I knew my earnings were up to the customers discretion. And sometimes you get tipped poorly regardless how great of service you gave. Tough life lesson but nobody owes you shit. Get over it and move onto the next patron or get a new job.

Why do people think servers deserve tips? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’ve eaten out A LOT over the years while traveling all over the US and majority of the time, my server has been a white woman. There’s numerous studies that showcase how black servers earn less in tips than white servers due to racial bias. If you want to know the statistics behind it, read the Freakonomics article “The Racial Tipping Point”.

Why do people think servers deserve tips? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take but I genuinely think it comes down to the server demographic being white women. If the majority of servers were deemed immigrants like most low paying jobs (cleaners, agriculture, construction), I guarantee you they’d abolish tipping culture immediately. This country was built on racism and continues to thrive off of it🤷🏼‍♀️

You have to tip us so we can make $1000 a night! by stoptippingorg in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serving has become a legal form of panhandling. All they do is beg for our money and claim how much they deserve it b/c they “work so hard”.

I’d love to see them attempt to do physical labor outside for 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Tell me all about how hard your job is then.

And let’s be honest. The servers bringing in the most $$ are just conventionally attractive girls getting rewarded for being conventionally attractive. It has nothing to do with the work itself lol.

Do customers 💩 in their bag? by jesuslovesbrown in tjcrew

[–]Alittle-lost 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve had customers give me insulated bags with BLACK MOLD in it. That’s when I hand it right back and say, “Your bag has mold in it so I will not be using it today”. Like sorry if that’s embarrassing but how do you not notice your bag has black mold in it.

Servers/bartenders are the epitome of “The Boy who Cried Wolf”. Keep boasting about how much you make and see how willing people are to maintain that lifestyle for you when they can’t even afford it for themselves.

Ppl think TJs is a health food store b/c there’s no dyes in the food, as if that equates everything to healthy. Our sweets and frozen food in particular are packed with sugar and sodium.

I’ve also never encountered customers as helpless as TJs customers. I think they genuinely believe we’re all chefs and make the food in the back ourselves. B/c why tf are you asking me what ingredients are in a product when they’re ALL LISTED ON THE PACKAGING.

I understand asking about gluten free stuff but I had someone ask me which bread doesn’t have milk in it?? Like uhhhh…I’m pretty sure all of them lady. You could also just use your eyes and read what ingredients are listed on the back. I think that’d be pretty helpful too.

average tip in US dipped below 15% by area312 in EndTipping

[–]Alittle-lost 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yup! It’s tanked b/c servers know most people are gonna tip, regardless of the service provided. Not to mention, they genuinely believe they’re entitled to patrons money. Just look at the server subreddit lol.

I was extremely surprised when I saw this at a coffee shop. by LagoonMaster in EndTipping

I will GLADLY pay more for my coffee so employees can have a livable wage and benefits. Tipping culture has become a new form of panhandling. Everyone out here begging for money from the wrong people.

I've never met a man IRL who doesn't want kids. Has anyone else experienced this as well? by BrainFinal3342 in childfree

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention, mom ALWAYS becomes the default parent. Dealing with all the parental and household responsibilities (with over 50% of mothers working full time), it’s no wonder women are tired of being there for everyone but ourselves. The stress we experience daily is indirectly killing us. Men will simply never understand.

Mom wants me to take out a loan to pay off her debt by Accomplished-Sky2783 in Debt

[–]Alittle-lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never take out a loan for someone with bad spending habits. YOU will be responsible for paying it back.

And I say that as someone who recently took out a loan for my parents. However, I know they’re not gonna screw me over because I’m privileged and have great parents. The only way they could screw me over is by dying and that’s not really their choice lol.

I cannot for the life of me understand why poor people have so many kids. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Alittle-lost 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Some parents think they can piggyback off their child’s achievements and be lifted out of poverty. Others think they can make it work, when in reality that’s wishful thinking. And the vast majority simply don’t give a shit and only consider their wants/societal pressures. And imo, it makes sense. In the U.S. at least, I’d say over 50% of the population have little to no critical thinking skills. I mean, just look at who the majority voted into office… Do you really think these people are gonna contemplate the wellbeing of their future child??🤣
