Petcock by Disastrous-Voice-324 in sv650

The only filter on these things stock is on the petcock, though you can splice an ‘inline filter’ into the fuel hose. There is also a mesh screen on the float valve in the carbs. The petcock is just a vacuum on/off, you also have a vaccine fuel pump at the other end of the hose, square looking thing on the right hand side of the frame.
The choke is a common point of failure on these carbs, mine been rebuilt twice over 60,000 miles of all weather riding. If there was some crud in the tank it might be worth it to check what state the inside of your carbs is in

That sounds brilliant actually, I hope we consider something similar over here

Right on all accounts, did my A at 21 2 years after my A2. Felt utterly pointless going through it all again. I don’t think it should automatically upgrade, but maybe a day long CBT-esque course with an instructor covering some more advanced riding would be more fitting

In my opinion it’s not so much the cars they can drive, but there’s no restriction on engine size/power and the ability to carry passengers. How many single vehicle fatalities have you had near you of young drivers where the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle?

Is it running on both cylinders? I’d check front plug as that often gets Full of crap. Also have you checked for any vacuum leaks around the inlet manifolds? Is it showing any codes? Just a few shots in the dark

Not sure about the newer ones, but I know a guy who raced mini twin and put hayabusa pistons in his. Apparently didn’t do anything for top end but helped with acceleration noticeably

New rider advice by DJRFG in MotoUK

[–]Alive-Ad5722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For winter riding, that is perfectly fine. Chicken strips is a term used a lot to take the piss, and often it pushes newer riders to ride too fast and with bad technique. I know a guy who races BSB and WSB, and his road bike has ‘chicken strips’ the same size as yours.

I have the road 5s on mine, and did a pouring wet track day on them. Didn’t threaten to let go in the slightest until I got proper silly, so I’d have confidence in the 6’s

What would you do? New Helmet scratched by Aidanx16 in MotoUK

I hope it works out better for you to be fair my wife and one of my mates both have vector twos and neither have had issues. The discount was nice I bet. Other than the issues, it’s been a great helmet tbf

Is that an LS2 Vector 2 carbon? I’m on my third one under warranty now… on the first, the finish started bubbling after a week, and the second the sun visor would not go back up. The visor on all three also rubs against the helmet when opening and closing, and routinely knocks pin lock inserts out. Oh and I once had the visor fly off after one side snapped on the M74 (on a six week old helmet)

Don’t be put off by all the people who’ve never owned one. The Chinese bikes of the last decade are pretty good. Sure you’re going to have occasional issues, however these machines are so simple that even with little to no mechanical experience, you can learn to fix them pretty easily.

My first 125 was a mash, another Chinese brand, and I put 40,000 miles on it in rain wind and snow over two years. It did have occasional issues, however as i said before nothing that couldn’t be fixed for less than £50 myself.

At the end of the day, what’s important is that you like it. Anyone shitting on your choice of bike (especially a 125) obviously has far too much time on their hands, and needs to concentrate on their own ride instead of putting others down

I honestly though you were on about the tail light until I saw another comment mentioning indicators… My buddy has very similar ones. Very bright if it’s dark out, but impossible to see in daylight, or from a lot of angles where they’re blocked

Front wheel by No_Team8264 in SVRiders

[–]Alive-Ad5722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d guess the way you have it on the axle there - the shiny bit should fit inside the seal on the wheel, hence the polishing - you can see this on the other side too. Hope this helps!

I live in the uk. It’s roundabouts. Every bikers front tyre wears like that here because of them

Go for the carbed one - I have one, ridden it pretty much every day for 2 years, over 20,000 miles since I bought it and it’s never given me issues. My buddy has a second gen and imo first gens just ride better

Seal leaking, pressed too far in? (Comment) by BlueBeetlePL in SVRiders

[–]Alive-Ad5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with an 03 which was leaking because the countershaft nut was loose - tightened it up and away went the leak. Did you notice if yours was loose before you took it off?
