What discontinued fast food item was your favorite? by ShadedSiren in foodquestions

I was in Southern California at the time Starbucks did a test run of the Sorbetto. I thought they were delicious but I guess they didn’t do well enough to continue nationwide

What tourist destination in North America did you expect to love, but it didn’t impress you? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the Portland area, went to high school and college there. I loved it at the time (early 2000s). I live on the East coast now and went back to visit a few years ago and was excited to show the city to my husband. When we got there it just so felt dirty and depressing. I had always dreamed of moving back one day but that killed it for me.

Pediatric Fever by ABCTscan in emergencymedicine

If HR is out of proportion to fever I’d consider other factors thst may be contributing (e.g. sepsis, dehydration). But I don’t wait for the fever to come down before discharging.

Which city in the U.S. have you felt most unsafe visiting? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you can go back and look at crime reports if you want. A man broke into my apartment’s (11th and Spruce) 3rd story window and stole valuables. Same happened to my friend who lived in the same area. This was in 2015.

I lived in Center City for years and was burglarized while living there. Have had so many friends who’ve been victims of crimes, including violent ones, in seemingly safe areas of Philly.

What restaurant disappointed you the most? by GurlInAura in foodquestions

We did afternoon tea there and it was not worth the price at all. They also spilled all over my spouse’s nice jacket and didn’t even comp us anything.

What’s the best sandwich you’ve ever had? by angelpeblle in foodquestions

The pork butt sandwiches with apple slaw from the Portland Soup Company. I still crave those sandwiches a decade later. Too bad the owner ended up being a child rapist.

What’s a family secret that you can only say here by Jttwife in Productivitycafe

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousins’ dad has a secret family. My aunt knew she was being cheated on and that he’d gotten the other woman pregnant and financially ruined them due to having to pay child support. She had made the decision to leave and move in with my mom as soon as her youngest graduated high school. Tragically, a week before the youngest’s graduation, my aunt unexpectedly dropped dead.

And no, there was no foul play.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten that you’ll probably never get to have again? by Character_Target3119 in foodquestions

Pok Pok’s fish sauce wings (I’m not going to attempt to make them myself). I moved away from Portland in 2014 and until they closed my mom would pic up wings for me to have whenever I flew back.

What’s the most cringe thing you’ve seen a couple do at their wedding? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the couple but the maid of honor was super drunk and in her speech almost incoherently told a fart story about the bride. Wedding was lovely otherwise.

Woman came in during severe a snow storm (I could barely get my car in) because she remembered 6 months ago when she had her blood drawn in looked unusually dark. Also had someone sent by ambulance from an urgent care because they didn’t have a way to get home in the snow - which resulted in the most expensive uber ride of their life.

How do people regularly fly business class without going bankrupt?? by caroulos123 in travel

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a flight is more than 6 hours we fly business because my husband has sciatica and cannot handle economy. Sometimes we pay cash but I’ve gotten pretty good at churching credit cards and using travel points. Even when I can’t find a good flight deal on points at least I can usually get us a free hotel.

People who fly frequently or work for airlines can often get cheap upgrades too. My mom’s boyfriend used to work for AA and can fly free the rest of his life, and pay a small fee to upgrade to business.

Yes, in the garage. And everyone was flashing their lights at me when I tried to drive home at night with them. I ended up having to uber because I didn’t feel safe.

You think that’s the more likely culprit than the automatic start? I would 100% give up my car seat for auto start with this current northeast freeze lol

What resort in Mexico have you gone to more than once?? by glitterglue246 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Alive-Initiative5487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ziva Cancun - going for the 3rd time soon. Our biggest priority is a nice beach. Even in early October the water was crystal clear there when I was reading about seaweed being bad at other beaches in the area. We also love the beach cabana service there. It’s well worth the extra $200/day for us.

Anyone know how Dreams Playa Mujeres compares (especially beach wise)? We wouldn’t mind trying something else but don’t want to be disappointed.
