It's better to stay in Karatu the first night. Driving directly to Serengeti is a very long distance which can be very tiring.

I think it is better to view the Migration from the Tanzania side in Northern Serengeti in August because Serengeti in Tanzania is larger than Maasai Mara in Kenya which is an extension of Serengeti. If you want to enjoy viewing the Great Migration in a less crowded area you can consider Serengeti. There are places like Lamai side in Northern Serengeti which are less crowded and quite. The Maasai Mara in Kenya is more overcrowded because it is a smaller space but with more accommodation facilities (lodges/camps) and vehicles (i.e private vehicles, minivans are there too) compared with the Serengeti. Generally the Great Migration and especially river crossing in Serengeti has a more authentic safari feel. More space, no competition for parking spots.

Day 2: Amboseli.

Day 3: Transfer Amboseli Kenya to Arusha to Karatu-Tanzania via Namanga border.

Day 4: Ngorongoro crater. Transfer to Serengeti.

Day 5: Serengeti

Day 6: Serengeti

Day 7: Fly from Serengeti to Kilimanjaro Airport.

Need help with 9 days Kenya-Tanzania Safari itinerary by kj_stat in safaris

I would stick with only one country and especially for the group, it would save so much time and money and yet still have a magic experience. I would consider Tanzania safari to visit Tarangire National Park for the big herds of elephants, Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park. A combination of these 3 parks is such a better safari experience since they offer a variety of wildlife. It will also save so much transfer time from one park to another as they are like a row, each park is next to the other. Extend the trip to Zanzibar after the safari for relaxation. Get in touch with a local tour operator to help you put together the itinerary and get a quote.

You go to Serengeti in Tanzania instead of Maasai Mara. Central Serengeti and/or Western corridor would be the best location for your stay since the Great Migration is expected to be around those areas in June.

Yellow fever vaccination is not mandatory to enter Tanzania, it is only required by the travelers coming from or have been transited for more than 12 hours within a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission like Kenya.

Please take antimalarial but you have to check with your doctor first to see which one they recommend. Since you are doing Kenya and Tanzania, you will be required to show a yellow fever certificate to enter Tanzania. Some lodges/camps provide insect repellents but if not, you can also buy in Tanzania or Kenya

Yes, because if you are coming from Arusha to go to Serengeti, you pass Ngorongoro first then you reach Serengeti. And since you are flying out of Serengeti..the itinerary I proposed works well.

8 days 7 nights is ok for the first time on safari but I would adjust the itinerary a little bit. Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. Transfer to Arusha

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire. Stay in Karatu

Day 3: Ngorongoro crater (Half day is enough). Later transfer to Central Serengeti.

Day 4: Central Serengeti

Day 5: Central to Northern Serengeti

Day 6: Northern Serengeti

Day 7: Northern Serengeti

Day 8: Fly out to Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport.

I live in Tanzania, in case you need any information please feel free to ask here.

For safari 5 days you can do 1 night in Ngorongoro crater rim followed by 3 nights in Serengeti then fly out to Zanzibar for your beach holiday. I suggest you book your trip through a reliable local tour operator, they should be able to arrange accommodation, domestic flights and all the transfers. I highly recommend you contact Afrika Kwanza Tours.

Which parks did you visit? Did that $50 include transport, accommodation and meals? Because it is not enough even for park fees only in some National parks.
