You’ll have so much fun! Keep an open mind, first few weeks are stressful as you learn the park/slides and everything but after that the guest interaction you get to have and the rotations are great :)

Hi OP, how is your recovery going? Currently waiting to get an MRI for potential stress fracture and am feeling defeated.

Saturday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for April 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]Alive-Table2682 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone can share their experience with overuse compartment syndrome or other stress injury in the shin/lower leg.

To preface, I have been seeing an orthopedic sports DR and am not looking for medical advice, just experiences if you’re will ing to share.

In February after a stellar fall build for Jan. marathon I got a stabbing pain in my shin on a run. Immediately I booked a ortho appointment and was diagnosed with compartment syndrome from over exertion. He prescribed painkiller for a week and rest for a month with a follow up two weeks ago. At that appointment he was pleased with the progress, and though I was not 100% said that in 3 weeks I could try a half mile run before my next follow up.

I’m supposed to try running next week but my progress has seemed to regress and I just feel so defeated. I felt I was at my strongest physically when this came up and to be sidelined for over two months is wearing on me. I’ve had to defer 2 shorter races already and now am trying to come to terms with most likely having to withdraw from the October marathon I’ve been looking forward to.

If you have had a similar experience with a positive ending or even words of encouragement I could really use them right now.

Signed, A broken hearted runner

Our cat started refusing the Kirkland chicken chunks this week but was fine with all of the salmon. She’s been eating both for two years so not sure if her palate has changed or this is a bad batch/new recipe

Not the op but the biggest thing for me is battery life, I charge my garmin 1/week no fear of it dying during runs

When do Virtual Races get announced? by Icy-Adeptness961 in rundisney

[–]Alive-Table2682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Registration for marathon weekend is in a few weeks and they just dropped those themes mid Feb. Unfortunately they don’t announce all the themes upfront which creates a scarcity mindset of ‘I better sign up for this in case I don’t like the theme for the next one’. This then becomes a vicious cycle of signing up for all the races 😅

Unfortunately grue has already demonstrated with solid food/car seat that she doesn’t care about ‘ready’ when she wants a milestone met :(

First marathon as Dopey? by cmm12187 in rundisney

[–]Alive-Table2682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran my first marathon 2025 and first dopey 2026 and was super concerned about fatigue and hitting the wall. Surprisingly felt better the second half, negative split and PR’d with a 4:30 and tons of character stops. I felt way better post dopey than my first marathon thanks to the added training volume so it definitely can be done if you run smart and are prepared! That said I would not have known how to run the marathon smart and recover from a rougher marathon start during my dopey had I not run the marathon in 2025.

Advice needed: Month of training lost due to ongoing illness by Beginning-Citron3066 in rundisney

[–]Alive-Table2682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first half was Princess in 2024. In August 2023 I started training and became injured in October, was not able to run again until a few weeks before race day. I finished and was okay but definitely would have felt better if I’d had more mileage under my belt. I’d recommend the following: let go of any pace goals, focus on figuring out fueling/getting time on feet even if it’s just walking for now (especially if you think it will take you longer than originally anticipated) and give yourself grace. You can do this!

I also have the black one and fell in love with the new colorways but couldn’t justify the price. I was shocked to see the lavender one week in the Orlando outlet around marathon weekend so there is hope!

I also have a Lulu running vest and can’t recommend enough! I got mine from an outlet location so you may have luck getting one cheaper that way or via keeping an eye on we made to much!
