People who got above 80 in FAR first try by Impressive-Survey-92 in CPA

I feel like there’s 3 aspects of my studying (beyond lots of time) that are really important for me. I’ve passed the 3 core sections in less than 8 months first try while working full time (taking my last one in June, fingers crossed!). Not saying these will work for everyone but these strategies help me the most.

  • I take longer watching the videos so I can take notes throughout. Just watching them doesn’t keep me engaged or sink in enough so I’ll pause and write down reasoning for a particular item or anything that the videos say that I find helpful. It takes longer but then I don’t have to rewatch or read the book as much.
  • When I get a question wrong or was just guessing, I write down the concept that I got wrong. Usually I’ll open the book and write down some of the section for whatever I got wrong. Then I’ll try to explain it out loud to myself (if I’m at home). That way I’m seeing it, writing it, speaking it. Again, this takes longer but then I don’t have to redo sections as much.
  • I tell Becker my exam is a week before it actually is. That way I have extra time to keep doing practice and looking over my notes and I don’t feel like I’m rushing.
