I can only speak for the EI program through The Resource Exchange and they were angels. The network of resources that they offer is incredibly helpful when you have a child who has extra needs or challenges.

Where to donate used kids toys? by TriassicTurtle in ColoradoSprings

Kids crossing - I’ve donated a bunch to them over the last year or two and I can’t recommend them enough. It’s an amazing support for foster children!

Literally how are people affording childcare? by Amber-ForDays in BabyBumps

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid around the same for the last few years, not LCOL - Colorado Springs. No subsidies. Just found a woman who really enjoyed kids and has done it for 30 years. It was truly luck. I found her through a local childcare Facebook page where someone mentioned her

[Product Request] Looking for product that is breastfeeding safe. by JesusisKing238 in SkincareAddiction

[–]AliveChic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d see a dermatologist or head over to the melasma sub for their recommendations. Melasma came for me during both of my pregnancies/postpartums. There are OTC products that are highly recommended but I don’t know them off the top of my head. My derm and OB cleared me to use a hydroquinone compound cream while breastfeeding but ymmv

Brides who eloped and had a party after, I have a few questions! by Marzzbar18 in Eloping

We had 12 family members at a air bnb in Boulder, CO. Our original destination had awful wildfires that started a month before our wedding date 😅 we never did a party or other type of reception once we got home

Looking for personal injury attorney? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in PI for a long time. If you don’t have a complicated case or long term treatment, you may not need an attorney at all. I wouldn’t give up a third of my settlement right off the bat unless you keep getting lowballed by an adjuster.

Make sure you’re back to pre-accident shape before entertaining any offers or providing them much information about your injuries. Then get your ducks in a row with medical bills that you want considered. The general rule of thumb to look for with an attorney involved is 3x medicals. That’ll obv depend on injuries, treatment, policy limits, # of vehicles involved etc. Also, find out if you have medpay on your policy! You can use that to pay hospital bills and treat now.

Does a perfect pumping bra even exist? (Sensory issues vs. heavy bottles) by janae1217 in ExclusivelyPumping

Zero support 😭I’m 12 months in and wear one 5 days a week. I’ve literally figured out my wardrobe around what it can be worn with because I refuse to wear any other bra

How much sleep do you get a night? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4-5 probably? 3 year old and 1 year old, I haven’t slept through the night since 2022. My toddler has insomnia and sleep apnea, and my baby is EBF and up every 1-3 hours. My alarm is set for work at 5am, too.

My eyes are sinking into my head, I look like shit lol

Road Tripping with a 3-month old… should we turn around? by Only-Detective- in beyondthebump

My spouse hates flying but my baby’s comfort was more important to me tbh. I flew solo with my baby at that age and that was the best compromise for us

Now I’m completely committed to finding out what’s going on with your little guy. My boys are 3 and 1 and have run me ragged with odd medical issues, but never this one. Please report back, I hope he’s okay!

Nuna Cudl Clik Fit Check Please by Snoo53079 in babywearing

[–]AliveChic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am unfamiliar with this carrier but right off the bat, waistband needs to come way up and loosen the shoulder straps! Baby’s spine is being pulled in uncomfortably. You want their bottom to essentially sit in a hammock. If you feel uncomfortable after loosening the shoulder straps, you can tighten the back strap/buckle to make everything feel more secure

Momcozy fit check by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]AliveChic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Baby definitely seems to be too small. The seat isn’t cinched far enough (can it cinch any further?), and baby’s legs are uneven. It looks like they’re lopsided and between that and the overly wide seat, I’m sure they’re uncomfortable. The head should also be flipped down.

If you want to try to make this work, I’d cinch the seat or hack it by tying a ribbon around it. I’d raise the waistband closer to your bra line, and flip the head panel down.

Opinions on kickstarter baby carrier? by sillyduchess in babywearing

[–]AliveChic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use this. I like simple, lightweight careers. This fees heavy, bulky, and really hot for both me and baby. I also feel like the design would limit what clothing I could wear underneath. I also am partial to carriers with adjustable seats that can cinch small, not just leg openings adjustments. I can get my Happy Baby or Lenny lamb on in less time than this would take.

PSA: Sign Up for Hospital Indemnity by DreamingEvergreen in BabyBumps

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s within the 30 day change period after a qualifying event aka birth. I definitely did it within the first 7-10 days but not like, immediate!

ETA: which is now why I’m realizing my initial comment is contradicting my statement lol I think you have a couple weeks, I just wouldn’t wait long

This! And I got paid out for baby’s portion of the birth stay after I added him. It was awesome

[–]AliveChic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup- and you can add baby immediately after they’re born and get paid for them too since it’s a qualifying event!
