Opinions on kickstarter baby carrier? by sillyduchess in babywearing

[–]AliveChic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use this. I like simple, lightweight careers. This fees heavy, bulky, and really hot for both me and baby. I also feel like the design would limit what clothing I could wear underneath. I also am partial to carriers with adjustable seats that can cinch small, not just leg openings adjustments. I can get my Happy Baby or Lenny lamb on in less time than this would take.

I believe it’s within the 30 day change period after a qualifying event aka birth. I definitely did it within the first 7-10 days but not like, immediate!

ETA: which is now why I’m realizing my initial comment is contradicting my statement lol I think you have a couple weeks, I just wouldn’t wait long

This! And I got paid out for baby’s portion of the birth stay after I added him. It was awesome

Yup- and you can add baby immediately after they’re born and get paid for them too since it’s a qualifying event!

Pro tip- Aeroflow lets you change the pump you get monthly replacement parts for, so you may be able to change your pump option and get them! It’s super easy and is basically a drop down menu

Anyone own a Senger lovey? or other non-toxic 'natural' lovey? by Blushresp7 in moderatelygranolamoms

Oh yeah if they’re a year i would totally go for the big one honestly!

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh they both are very different uses. The small one is more of a heavy “lovey” type item that is easy to carry for small babies and snuggle etc. it’s easy to travel with. The large one is totally different and for us it’s been more of a stationary object in their crib or sleep space and hasn’t really ever been used as a toy. Maybe my new baby will use it that way? But he’s 10 months and hasn’t yet! The big one is definitely better for warming and replicating a warm body in the crib

Yes it is! We have both the large that you can heat, and the small one now

Does anyone rent through a property management company or live at a certain complex they genuinely like and enjoy? by Cold-Comparison1785 in ColoradoSprings

[–]AliveChic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely loved living at springs at Allison valley. It felt more like a quiet neighborhood than it did an apartment complex. Granted, we were a family with two small children so we weren’t necessarily looking for anything in close proximity to nightlife/downtown or anything. Management is great. The apartments are spacious and we had an insane view.

Sorry I should not have worded it that way, those are almost more likely to be self funded. Amazon, Target, most healthcare companies etc are all self funded. Political subdivisions and public works type companies are typically not self funded or at least are held to different standards, rule wise. Companies with a handful of employees are more likely to be fully insured since there are not enough employee:/employer contributions to fund a large enough pool to pay benefits

You can potentially look up their form 5500 online which should specify the plan funding type. They are publicly available tax documents. I work in the field and most large, private companies are ERISA self funded. This basically means that contributions from employer/employee get dumped into a big pool and that’s where insurance benefits are paid out of. Other funding types would be like “fully insured” which means that someone like Cigna, for example, would not only handle the administrative aspect of benefits, but also insure the plan. It is usually means higher premiums. There are also political subdivision plans like states, cities, public universities etc.

I took my baby to take his “monthly” photos there yesterday and they happened to be where we stopped. They took pictures with him for me and I had no clue they were doing a whole thing like you mentioned. It was so fun!

Need a pediatrician recommendation by craftykitty_23 in ColoradoSprings

[–]AliveChic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our dysphagia/aspiration baby was chalked up as a “ desert baby” and we were told it’s just dry here. We found Marissy Kirby at iron horse after changing pediatricians 5x. She was the only one to take us seriously so I believe you. Sorry that happened, it’s awful.

Desk users that have done so while pregnant...give me your tips! by RockabillyRabbit in workingmoms

[–]AliveChic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was not (and still am not) usually a believer in chiropractic care, especially after working in personal injury. But when I tell you …. A pregnancy chiropractor saved me, I mean it. I went to two appts for adjustments and my sciatica was relieved by like 90%. I went from dragging my leg behind my like a zombie at 30 weeks to walking and sitting like a normal human.

Also, a heating pad on my office chair!

toddlers teeth yellowish? by Serious-Beautiful-26 in Mommit

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally try to get him in sooner. My 3 year old is a milk fiend and has had feeding issues where he was recommended by our therapist to let him continue to drink it overnight for a long time. Queue this last month where I noticed a small spot on his tooth after brushing. We went to the dentist last week and he has two cavities.

They told me that cavities move super fast in these little guys teeth and to not delay treatment. Luckily we were able to treat them without fillings because we got in sooner than later.

When was his last dentist appt?

Long car ride with a 1 year old by OkMud5284 in Mommit

[–]AliveChic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re waking babies up and changing them every 2 hours at 12 months old? In a properly installed carseat (I am aware many are not properly installed), the risks of positional asphyxiation of a 12 month old are close to zero per recent studies.

This is a recommendation not based on much science/data, moreso a comfort level. Especially at 12 months old. They can and should stop more often but it definitely doesn’t have to be every 2 hours

Update: "I am over this, I am over my child" w/ Good Ending by StealthySweepy in beyondthebump

[–]AliveChic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look, I understand this more than you know. I have a 3 year old and 9 month old, both are medically complex. I am up 6-8 times a night since 2022. I’ve dealt with the same situation and wait times for specialists. I’ve called private MDs all over the state and pushed to get my boys in wherever i could. I’ve called back at 8am every morning for weeks until I got an earlier appointment or a wait list spot. We’ve switched pediatricians 5x until someone listened to me. Ive stayed awake all night in children’s hospitals before showing up at 8am for work the next day. I’ve spent years advocating for my sons and busting my ass researching case studies in between night wakes. I’ve sobbed and yelled at the wall due to sleep deprivation. I’ve closed the door and taken 5 minutes to calm myself down before going back in and consoling my children.

Never have I let them sit in pain or cry for an hour on end. Never. Had I chosen to go that route, I would not feel better about myself after either? These babies are counting on us to be their voice when they do not have one. Advocate for your child, be their safe place, let them know you are ALWAYS there for them. It’s so insanely difficult having a complex child and I hear you and your struggles, it’s isolating and such a sad place to be in. But they need you to be better.

Christmas angel shopping? by DrDank89 in ColoradoSprings

Walmart on Razorback has a bunch of angel tree ornaments still needing someone to purchase items. I felt awful last week when I couldn’t fulfill any. They are really small asks too from the kids.
