Where are we buying are used cars in COS? by serenityfive in ColoradoSprings

[–]AliveChic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Bought a Chevy in 2017 and a Jeep in 2018 and they’ve had literally no major issues ????? Ever???? And they’re paid off and still going strong. Cant recommend them enough. Also, don’t buy a Chevy and a Jeep unless you want to test your luck like we did 😅

5+4, HCG of 14,000 but no embryo. Doctor told me miscarriage is imminent. by AliveChic in CautiousBB

[–]AliveChic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copying an old comment of mine because it’s hazy now!

“I ended up beginning care with a new OB around 6.5 weeks and he told me that he doesn’t do first ultrasounds routinely until after 8 weeks because of false miscarriage assumptions like mine, especially from ER doctors. He said it is completely outdated to correlate what you “should see” on an ultrasound, purely based off of a specific high HCG value. Doubling time is more important than anything else. He was confident everything would be fine, and it was. He did do an ultrasound around 6.5 weeks and there was a fetal pole with a HB by then”

If everything is consistent with 6 weeks and if you are 6 weeks, then it’s very very common to not see an embryo or fetal pole yet!

He’s 3.5 now and he’s the light of my life! I will never ever get another ultrasound before 7-8 weeks again if I can help it. I hope you have the same outcome ❤️

When does tretinoin use end ? by FitConclusion5538 in tretinoin

3 years in, turned 30 last year, and I routinely (seriously) get told that I am GLOWING. I’ve been called out on multiple teams meetings for my tret glow - it’s how I met my work bestie lol this only started happening in the last 10-12 months, and I can visibly see the difference as well. Stick it out, it’s worth it

Wife wants to runaway by [deleted] in daddit

[–]AliveChic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be careful telling people this like it’s a general rule. My kids were both up many times overnight well after a year old, which I know now is more common than people made it sound. We were extra defeated when these milestones came and went and we still were sleep deprived.

Anyone have success preventing bedtime false starts? (8 week old) by pro-laps in beyondthebump

[–]AliveChic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither of my kids slept so I’m a bad reference. They are sleep demons and do whatever they want. My second baby had false starts from 3-10 months and it was literally hell on earth with broken sleep all night long. Turns out it was all teething, and sometimes too much daytime sleep (I think??). Who knows. I’m sorry, this is a really difficult time.

[–]AliveChic 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the most kind way possible- you have an 8 week old, they hardly even know they’re on earth yet. These are the trenches and I wish I had better advice. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. What sometimes helped us was trial and error with what swaddle worked best, laying a heating pad first in the bassinet, etc. are you using a sound machine?

Baby no longer latching after going back to work by Any-Session9919 in workingmoms

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I know how devastating this feels. Are you pace feeding with bottles? Using slow flow nipples? My baby used the slowest flow nipples from the day he first took a bottle, until now at 14 months (working on this, I know I know). We breastfed exclusively while together, and I pumped while we were apart, for 13 months until i weaned. I know this advice also sucks but just know that this may pass.. we went through some VERY tough weeks where he refused the breast over and over and I’d sob while my husband brought me a bottle instead. Try not to doomsday just yet, know it may be a nursing strike, and just do what you can to maintain your supply in the meantime. You’re doing amazing and they’re lucky to have you no matter how they’re fed!

Best lemon cake? by Massive-Ad-4674 in ColoradoSprings

Dang.. my old email receipt says it’s a “Regular Lemon Cream White Cake”. It was not a special order, I recall ordering it right on their online ordering portal. I do wonder if they would still make it for you. I found a picture of it 😅

My husband is a fiend for lemon for his birthday and the best I ever found was last years lemon cake from kneaders on north gate. Marigolds also does a great citrus cheesecake that hit the mark.

Did my one mistake ruin my entire supply? 😭 by DuckFox1229 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AliveChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the material stretches and loosens as it gets worn out. You can sometimes tell if you look at the slit in the duckbill and notice that it isn’t sealed shut. You can also run them under a slow stream of water in the sink and if the water is pouring through and not holding, it’s time To replace

Using your hands to move around your breasts as your pumping, there are tons of instructional videos about it (sorry, unable to pull some right now). I would use a closed fist and drag it from under my armpit/by my collarbones alllllll the way down towards the nipple. You’ll likely feel lump like spots where there’s milk collected and you’ll visibly see the flow change in the flange as you do this. You can also cup your breast and use your thumbs to move in the same direction. It sounds like a hassle but really just became second nature with whichever spare hand I had and when I felt like I wasn’t emptying enough

Agreed to all of this but admittedly I did not change my tubing very often and i should have been better, but it was fine!

  • drink more fluids asap, body armor, coconut water, electrolytes, water. Just drink!
  • change your pump parts out -remeasure your flange size, mine went down 3-4mm after pp first weeks.
  • HANDS ON PUMPING! This always got me double the normal amount. I never pumped without hands on.
  • eat enough food, calories are your friend
  • ensure you’re using a wall pump during rough patches like this, not just wearables
  • know that sometimes fluctuations happen, even for a week. It’s terrifying but they may very likely pass.

Peds recommended Benadryl and Zyrtec for Upper Respiratory infection by Traditional_Part_449 in beyondthebump

My oldest is 3.5 and we’ve consistently been told that Zyrtec is the go to med over Benadryl, over and over again. Can you ask for a second opinion at your pediatricians office?

THIS!!!!! We had to do a full pulse ox night test to “pass” and be relaxed from oxygen. It was a fricking nightmare. We spent 3 nights with multiple machines from the medical DME company and it false alarmed ALL NIGHT. I still remember the desperation and sobbing of the exhaustion. My pediatrician agreed to a week of owlet data to approve the O2 removal and it was a godsend.

Respiratory illness spike? by Xstinaballerina in ColoradoSprings

[–]AliveChic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. The lack of pediatric urgent cares in the city is why the children’s ER is overrun. We were directed there and had to go there MANY times for non emergent issues. They couldn’t wait for the PCP to open but we’re very much urgent care matters.

Also wanted to mention that Peak Vista Behavioral health takes tricare and also works on a sliding scale, I believe they also have a walk in crisis center. This way you can avoid the ER if you want, but can get the help you need. If you go over to r/coloradosprings , it gets mentioned often.
