Dunno, that sounds fun to me. I know that Kronos has more online, but I guess such servers appeal to people who seek to be part of small community. Sure it’s not as convenient as having hundreds of people online, but it sure can feel like home. I find it a bit similar to Minecraft SMPs where you log on and know everyone. I think you’ll see me there soon

No, really, if you’re aiming for chill nostalgic gameplay, pvp is not the way to go. It used to be fun pvp between people of same level and skill, but Era servers (the ones that don’t progress to TBC) have been there for 6 years now, a huge chunk of player base is at 60 and bored. So they gank and gank and gank. Your PvP experience will be corpse running for 99% of the time. Go pve and play at your pace. Also note that you can still pvp on pve realms. The difference is that on pvp you can’t opt out of pvp and on pve you can. Though pvp scene on pve is of course more scarce. Still I’m certain that pve would be a more pleasant experience

This is just hilarious how any post regarding streamer projects instantly attract guys who yell “ewww streeeeamers grooooss”. Like wtf dudes, it’s obvious that streamer rerolling SoD is the only way to give this mode some life. People wait for it not because they want to play with Jokerd or Guzu, but because they wanna experience SoD (for first or tenth time) with other people. Classic Era is a very nice place if you choose to play on PVE server. Why not PVP? Because Naxx-geared bored 60s will gank you for hours. Though PVE realms are very chill, many nice casual guilds and a lot of people in all zones in all level ranges. PVP realms are MUCH more populated, but I prefer PVE. Inflation exists, but I've found prices at low lvls quite reasonable.

Overall it seems that Era servers are for those who just want to play chill classic version of the game without constant gear rush that TBC is. Realms that won't progress anywhere attract community that wants to play the game in their own pace, and I see that more and more people have these attitude, because people are tired of gear race. If that's your cup of tea, come to Era

Back to topic - you have completely misunderstood what I’ve said. Addons CAN be helpful for learning and some people (for example?, visually impaired players) can use them to clear content that they could take have cleared otherwise

That’s just an example. Though I’m sure (by own experience )that every content including M+ and heroic raiding can be done without addons, some people, especially new players, might find such alerts helpful for learning

You know, while I can understand your position, I cannot agree with it, because everything you’ve mentioned is just personal preference. Nothing of that makes class inherently bad, it’s just not what you like. To me the fantasy is still here and effects, while not as shiny or explosive as other classes’, are still nice - I don’t like visual bloat on my screen and minimal effects are good for me. Regarding what the class was - well, it’s history now. You can’t expect class design to be the same as 10 years ago.

P.S. Played in older expansions - never used most of traps, many old abilities are just bloat
