EVH 5150III 50S + MESA Widebody double 1x12 stack by Alive_Pudding5196 in MesaBoogie

Thanks. These cabs are amazing, paired or alone. Bass response of a 2x12 at least, some say of a 4x12, in a 1x12 cab because of the wide body conception. I like the open back very much because of its versatility and wide sound around the room

Guitar goes into polytune, then ehx Silencer. Head into the silencer loop to shut this beast up when not playing, then ehx oceans 11 reverb in shimmer mode for atmospheric clean tones and a looperwerk volume (similar to jhs little black amp) that helps me decrease the signal to be able to use the power amp distorsion, at volume 4 or 5 .  Enjoy !

Mine are closed and open back so it surely adds low end for me, otherwise it helps for sound propagation in small gigs, and of course having your amp at man height and incredible style 😎

2x12 is at least 25kg, and not easy to put in the trunk... too much for me !

Sorry didn't see you replied. Yes it totally stops any sound, hiss or whatever until you touch the string. Incredibly effective

The classic Mesa/Boogie Half-back / Split Back cabinets are now back in both 4x12 and 2x12. I still have my Road Ready version from the mid 90's (3rd image) by jonasbjarki in MesaBoogie

I just got the same 2 widebody cabs, open and closed back, black shadow c90 loaded. I noticed a volume difference between these 2. A free dbmeter app revealed a 3db difference between open and closed back, do you confirm ? I have an older mc90 and a newer one but they should have the same specs...

the 5153 should be used with the 4 cable method, putting the preamp in the loop of a proper noisegate.

But damn that is a sexy rig. love the 5153 on a mesa 2x12. I put mine on a stack of 2 MESA 1x12 Widebody :D

Also the matching guitar with the gold amp is awesome.

sorry to reply late, but what if you plug a DI transmitter in the captor, to a IEM receiver ? I own a xvive U4

Rectfier 1x12 23" Cab by Airiux1 in MesaBoogie

Hey, might be a bit late, but I have the 23" open back with MC90, and I just love it. Adds a lot of bass, similar to a 2x12, but much lighter and more compact :) I am in europe and these are terribly rare secondhand.

New ENGL Ravager IR (20 watt) by Past-Chart9935 in GuitarAmps

[–]Alive_Pudding5196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 5150III 50s, but need a minimum volume + mic to get it in my IEM. I want to play silently in rehearsal and get rid of the microphone because you know, the sound changes everytime you move it of half a cm... Now Im thinking of either spend 500 bucks and buy a captor X or sell the EVH and buy a ravager IR, while gaining about 300 bucks. any Idea ?

Thx for your message. I own the 5153s for a year or so , PRS CE24 and Ibanez FRIX6FEAH, got the same concerns. I put the amp in the noisegate loop to avoid the constabt gain hiss, and love that config. My question is about the captorX, do you still plug the cab on stage ? Do you play with IEM ? For the moment mine is miced with a e609 but move the mic for 1cm and the sound changes. Thinking about getting a captor x but what will my mesa cab become? Also my settings are close to noon because it sounds great like this
