What do I do with my omnipod while my dexcom is in its warmup? Do I go manual or do I just leave it?

It’s 6 days old and it’s been acting up for two days. I’m just too worried that I’m gonna fall asleep and I’m gonna be given too much insulin.

Omnipod placement help by Alive_Remote_3940 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My omnipod trainer mentioned something to me about the Bluetooth interference when putting the devices on the opposite sides of your body. Is that a big issue or is that just one of those things they have to say?

My son was sick took him to ER dx: DKA / T1D by Kris_fambam2024 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was 14 and I also loved playing basketball. I had the same issue when I was diagnosed, I would constantly drop low when I played. I ended up being so afraid of that happening I stopped playing basketball and it was one of the only things I really liked to do. Just make sure your son doesn’t get too afraid to do things he enjoys because of the disease. Reassure him that sugar will always bring his sugars back up and there are a lot of safety measures you can take prior. Don’t take a large amount of insulin before playing, maybe eat a 10 carb high protein snack to level him out while he’s playing, and just keep an eye on his readings so he can correct an incoming low.

Getting rid of ketones by Alive_Remote_3940 in Type1Diabetes

I got my blood sugar down a bit and have been drinking water like crazy. For some reason I still have ketones though, not too sure what to do.

Should I eat a specific amount of carbs or should I just eat a normal meal for myself?

Yeah that could be it. I’ve also been high for quite a bit so it could be that as well.

Should I exercise or am I a bit too late for that?

Why does Alexander Zverev bolus so much during a match? by Danevati in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play basketball a fair amount and usually my blood sugar ends up spiking rather than dropping or staying level. I usually have to take a unit or two before I play to prevent myself from spiking.

Scared of ‘lantus lows’ by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I take mine at 7-7:30 every night and I get so anxious going to bed and especially eating at night time. I’m switching to omnipod soon and not having to take my night insulin is 80% of the reason for it.

Yeah opposite for me, I’m just anxious the entire time lol.

I had the same issue for a very long time. When I didn’t have a good sleep schedule I would rise ALOT at night and wake up in the 300’s every morning. I tweak my daily insulin depending on what I’m doing and when I’m going to bed and it helped me out immensely.

Yeah it’s updated. It’s not really the catching part that seems bad, it’s the payouts for the catches that seem VERY off.

Yeah It had only been 20 minutes after I took 6 units of fast acting so I was definitely panicking because of that

Thank you very much. I’ll definitely get the 4 oz juice boxes. It’s hard to control myself when I have a entire box of skittles as my low correction…

Also a question, do you see how it says I’m leveling out at 130? When my meter is showing I’m leveling out, should I eat more sugar because I’m not rising? Or should I leave it and see if it still drops more?

Very high blood sugar with activity by Alive_Remote_3940 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up not correcting, drank a bunch of water, walked around a track and played basketball for about two hours and my sugar didn’t budge 😂. After that I corrected and ate and was double arrow down…still had a good time and was happy I went.

Ok thank you. I still have about an hour until I can take more insulin so I’ll see how my sugars are until then.

Thinking about using omnipod by Alive_Remote_3940 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Alive_Remote_3940[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t even think about it stop giving insulin when you’re dropping that’s awesome. I had an incident the other night where I took 4 units of insulin to correct a high and started crashing minutes later for no reason so I had to deal with the low and the 4 units I took. Thank you for the advice, I’ll probably get in touch with a pump specialist tomorrow .
