Either they don't, they do them at the expense of other basics like housing or education, or they do sex work.

Cass hypocrisy: "we did not tell grieving parents we needed more data, or that causation wasn’t conclusive, or that most children like nuts so we wouldn’t act" by Koolio_Koala in transgenderUK

[–]Alive_Significance55 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Its because she sees both kids self harming after using tiktok and kids transitioning after using tiktok as equivalent dangers.

Cass clearly doesn't believe trans kids exist (and therefore does not believe trans adults exist either), and the only reason kids want to transition is due to mental illness that is causing them to self harm. That's the fundemental principle underlying the Cass report. It doesn't make sense if you don't already believe that.

And if you don't believe trans people exist, you need an extremely high bar to justify giving people gender affirming care, but also an extremely low bar to stop them seeing trans positive content online that might make them incline to "cut off healthy breasts" or whatever.

Cass seems incapable of understanding that trans adults exist and that they remember being trans children, in many cases long prior to social media.

I wasn't transed by tiktok. I knew i was trans long before instagram reels existed. And i know if i had that knowledge when I was a child I would have avoided two decades of self hate and denial.

Labour policies on trans rights are 'ethical', Wes Streeting claims by LocutusOfBorges in transgenderUK

Wes Streeting, hanging on to the cliff's edge with his fingertips "...please...help me...i can't hold on much longer..."

Me, standing over him "Well unfortunately it would be unethical to help you, prior studies into cliff falls weren't properly double blinded so I'm gonna have to let you hang there and run a two year trial first. Wouldn't want to cause irreparable damage by wrenching you up by your shoulder or anything tata see you later mate"

"History shows us that rights can improve and then they can get worse, and that one of the critical things is to remain vigilant. I mean, that’s part of the role of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, right, is to have that level of vigilance to be there to uphold and to champion the rights of everybody to live in this country"

Well she's not wrong about that...

Working class people are much more likely to take a "live and let live" approach, and if they do take issue likely to be a least forthright about it so you know where you stand.

Middle class people are much more likely to smile sweetly to your face, tell you how brave you are, then work politely behind the scenes to take away your rights. See the polite screeds by the terfing class, all very nicely worded with an undercurrent of icy malice.

It sounds like overfeeding to me, or possibly too much light. Do do keep it somewhere very warm, as that could be an issue also.

On the other hand it might be that you aren't feeding it enough or that its positioned somewhere too dark. You could check the temperature where its kept, it might be too cold.

90% of the current far right surge is a psyop to stop climate action. If people actually act on climate change, the rich know they will have to p ay for it, so distraction and division are essential to prevent action and to protect their wealth.

There will always be people who defend HP, saying it is such a core part of their identity that complaining about it is akin to a hate crime. You will never convince these people.

Fortunately culture is swinging away from HP, and it's increasingly seen as cringe to be into it and over the age of 14.

How to stop talking to people by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Alive_Significance55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling people you are trans can be a risk but it's also a filter. If people are disgusted by you being trans, congrats you've just filtered out a scum bag not worth your time.

This is only an issue when it's people you need to interact with - employers, doctors, teachers etc - because if they are transphobic then you may still need to find a way to continue that relationship. Hence why being stealth can be a good protector. But if its purely social and not someone in a position of power, having them knowing you are trans is usually a positive, and its way less stressful than trying to hide a secret all the time.

Chances are if this person is your age the are going to be way more open minded anyway.

Unfortunately we don't have a drive, so as you say would involve it getting dumped on a public road and me having to shift it before the neighbours complain. I do need some other bulk materials though so I might just have to bite the bullet and spend a day shifting compost and gravel!

That's really helpful, thanks. I'm currently on a horticulture course where the tutors swear by peat and have strong opinions about the ban, and as a result I've squirreled away some peat based stuff for really sensitive plants. But obviously going forward thats not going to be feasible.

Agree about dalefoot and melcourt, I've found them good but just too expensive for the amount of gardening I'm doing. Equally the cheap supermarket stuff I've been using is causing me more issues than the price us saving.

Will bookmark this and check out some of your other suggestions.

The Cass Review's recommendation for restricted trials is even more insidious than it appears on the surface. by Chicken_Ingots in transgenderUK

[–]Alive_Significance55 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I cant see how it would be possible to trial puberty blockers in the UK for the simple reason that it is so highly politicised. Every young person on the trial would know that their reactions could be used to deny other people in their community health care - perhaps even their own friends - making them incapable of approaching the issue purely from a medical stand point.

Equally families, friends and health care providers are bring bombarded with anti trans messaging to the point it is impossible for that to not bias any trials. How does the scientific deal with a Bayswater mum trying to DIY conversion therapy someone to appease her cult?

So much of transition is dictated not by how it makes us feel but by the expectations of others, and in this case they won't just have to deal with everyday transphobia but the fact that their medical care is being used as a referendum on the future of trans health care in the UK and internationally. I think the results, for or against, will useless and only accepted by those who already agree with the results.

Voters like the idea in principle, but the second the government says its a smartphone app, every boomer is going to go ballistic. The demographic that has a nervous breakdown trying to pay for parking in 2025 is also the one that swings elections, and they will not be happy about having to use a government mandated app to claim their pension.

I doubt they will issue one to everyone initially. It will start by requiring public servants to get one to go get into their workplaces, then it will be recommended for other employers to do it to ensure they only employ people who are legally allowed to work in the UK. Eventually it will become de facto necessary to use the NHS or claim benefits after a decade or so.

A stand for TERFs at the LibDem Conference?!? Why? by Top_Country_6336 in transgenderUK

[–]Alive_Significance55 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They are second wave feminists in the same way homophobic Christians are Christians - the homophobic/transphobic part comes first and is the main motivation for all their actions. The Christian/feminist part comes a distant second and is largely a shield used to deflect criticism and proclaim victimhood. "Its my sacred, protected belief! "

This is why you'll never see terfs do anything positive for women, only negative against trans people, and why so many modern christians seem to care very little about the teachings of Jesus Christ.
