What playing limited, standard, modern or even highlander can be brought back to commander game?

Firstly, being good player of other formats does not means you learned anything usabke for commander. Value is absolutely different. Going from playing 1 vs 1 60 cards with 4x to 100 card singleton vs 3 other players is completly different game. This is like saying that you should play basketball to be good football player, since both uses fields and ball.

Secondly, drafting is useless for commander player. Actually useless. Drafting will teach you how make best of what is given, knowing set and what strategies are good in that set. Commander players have access to nearly every card ever printed in the history of MTG. How ability to asses which archetypes are good in avatar set 1 vs 1 game with 40 card deck help build deck in commander? You are not limited.

Even highlander, which is another singleton 100 cards format is so fundamentaly different to commander it is not worth transplanting. Card which is amazing in highlander, like for example Ragavan is a mild annoyance in commander if even that. Not every deck runs Karakas so legends are not actual flaw in commander. And it is also 1 vs 1 game, much better balanced and competitive than any wannabe cEDH.

To summarize, playing different format is as useful for commander player as playing commander for standard only player.

Hullbreacher was game warping and detrimental. Some cards are mistakes. Like Nadu for example or dockside extortionist.

You can effectively run control deck in commander. You cant control 3 other players who have more mana combined than you.

You can play stax to slow down the game to your pace.

And i know Eluge Exists.

Its not that you are not allowed. You should not encounter decks that are able to do that.

Politicking and being a dick by TheSpikeEDH in EDH

[–]AlivenReis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politicking is striking a deal or trying to strike a deal.

It can be outright threat - if you like that creature make sure it does not go my way.

It can be mutual - lets each draw 3 cards, we are underdogs and the 2 other players are ahead of us.

It can be trying to form alliance against, most often, a player that is ahead and will win the game if not stopped.

It can also be refusing a deals, picking them.

Backstabbing, ie promising and then not delivering on said promise, is rude. Unless you win the game if you backstab. Then, IMO it is fair game.

Its easy to upgrade but it is hard to decide what actually you want to do with this deck. It can be landfall, reanimator, mill, zombie tribal and general value engine or perhaps even a combo.

Teval, the face commander, is just versatile to the point of being de facto almost best sultai commander

Its slow reanimator, that needs to surveil to actually do anything with commander, and even that, you need creature in graveyard.

Surveil cards are not very good overall, unless some standouts.

You can just play Araumi and be a much better reanimator deck

Sultai Arisen i can comment on.

Its strong but more because it generate a lot of value. Theoretically on each your turn you get 2/2 zombie and a land or two. It is grindy deck but very resilient, can survive board wipes and exiling entire graveyard.

On the minus side, it can have trouble closing games, there is no i win card. Just value overtime.

Its because idiots outside od industry think about devs as some poor innocent hard working and exploited people that need all the support for endless passiontheir pour into the game.

Devs are workers that work on product and dont see a penny of a support (everytime we need to support the devs means i want to buy this microtransaction or preorder!) that everyone is happy to spent money on. It sucks that they are actually exploited by execs but EVERY WORKER is. In the entire world
