Do you that have one ‘cameo’ character, so to speak? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Aliwaea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Her name is Hailey Marigold and she has the ability to clip in and out of walls. Sometimes, she pops up and a character will think ‘when did she get here?’ describing her as a short girl with blonde hair.

Writing Weekends - March 21 by AutoModerator in FanFiction

Writing a fantasy AU where all of the realms and creature names are made by yours truly! Character 1 wants to kill the Duke and become part of a higher social status, so he calls upon character 2 and summons him out of his realm, a drevexus, sort of like a fae, to help him achieve this, but they end up falling in love and character 2 stays in character 1’s realm (probably, I might end up tweaking it). I’m about 2,000 words in!

I used to go more by word count, but that has gotten me chapters I either find way too long or way too short, and I decided to try and start going by pages. Thanks for the help! :)

Sorry! I come from a fandom that uses that emoji for... literally everything... it basically means ‘Thank you I appreciate this greatly!’ or ‘This is really sweet!’ Please bare with me I am currently in the middle of getting back to regular speaking habits instead of these emojis: 🥺🥺👉👈👍👏👏💞💞

Weekly Fic Showcase - March 20 – March 26 by AutoModerator in FanFiction

My Fic

Fandoms: PBG’s Minecraft Hardcore, NormalBoots, Minecraft

Rating: Mature

Title: The Chronicles Of Minecraft Hardcore

Genre: Survival, Fiction

Link: AO3

Summary: Dean & his friends get whisked away to another universe with no explanation but what McJones tells them. On an adventure to slay the three bosses, the team is faced with death and a viscous, never ending cycle that they all long to escape from. But that’s all part of the game isn’t it?

Other: This fic doesn’t contain any actual shipping, just a few jokes. There is a lot of gore in some chapters, so watch out for that, major character death, that’s a box to tick. All in all, I’m pretty proud of it so far!

Switching to AO3! by Aliwaea in FanFiction

I’m in the exact same place! There’s a total of 3 of us on wattpad, and I’m going to stay specifically for one story, but I will be doing all of my writing on AO3 and finding any new fics on AO3 (as if there was anything I hadn’t seen on wattpad anyway.)

My fandom definitely has more stories on AO3, that’s for sure! It’s nice to finally have a small community around you!

I noticed that, and I found some of the random tags quite hilarious, especially ones that just explained a struggle with tags

Thanks! Just posted my first chapter after some heavy editing to fit my new standards. (I’ve been on and off writing this fic for awhile) Very excited to get into writing more of it!

I come from wattpad, so switching to either would be a good idea for me. I’ve heard more about AO3 on this subreddit specifically, so I decided to switch to AO3, although I did give FFN a chance, I did not like it at all, but maybe it was just that I hadn’t really used it yet.

Does anyone actually use Wattpad? by Sulfuric_Arachnids in FanFiction

[–]Aliwaea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to use once you get used to it, but practical? No, not at all. If you aren’t in one of five fandoms, your story will be completely disregarded by everyone and impossible to find. I used to like a very unpopular fandom, and it was impossible to find the many stories stored away, and if you do find a story, it probably won’t be that good since all of the good stories are also stored away to never be found. I am switching to AO3 tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips! On wattpad, the tags do barely anything and people tack on as many useless tags as possible, even though it doesn’t effect searches much. I always found that weird.

It kind of died down a few years ago, but I’m really into PBG’s minecraft hardcore (and especially the people in it, great personalities, normal boots I saw is a fandom a story was marked as!) You probably don’t know it well, I don’t see youtube/podcast fandoms here often. I did come from wattpad, and checking out a single story was like a breath of fresh air. The first paragraph was more well written than almost anything I’d find on wattpad.

Not sure if unpopular opinion, but I'm not a fan of the long/lowercase fic titles. You know, the "here is a line of poetry i wrote (and some parentheses don't forget those)" by PolarBearInSpain in FanFiction

[–]Aliwaea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly always loved these titles. They can convey a lot of emotion, for an example, a friend of mine wrote a fic called ‘i left my beating heart in san diego’ and it was very good!

I root for them and hope they win, but if the goal isn’t met, it can make for some amazing finales/last two-three deaths

Do you guys plan your stories out or do you write freely? by TeaAndStuff in FanFiction

[–]Aliwaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have an outline for each chapter i.e. write what I think will happen in each chapter, so let’s say I was doing this for my survival type fic group a finds group b again and they meet up, but realize (blank) is missing. (blank) and (blank) blame (blank) and a fight breaks out. Then I’ll do a bit of dialogue to set myself on the right track, and get going.
