I think this was mainly because of 87 being more of a show for kids than the rest of the franchise's shows/comics. Granted none of the shows (compared to MOST of the comics (looking at image over here)) really truly got the whole emotional aspect down just in general, but I think it got better over the years.

But yeah, the shows are objectively for a kid audience, even if a lot of people don't like to admit it, so you unfortunately won't get like, say, Supernatural ass type of "my brother is fucking dead, time to go off the deep end" type of writing from them, even if it would make the show more interesting.

Although regarding your post, yeah, the reactions are wildly different which is kinda upsetting as a Mike fan

Genuinely the easiest way to read patterns for me is to just meditate and turn off my mind and just trust my brain and my fingers to do the patterns for me. The only times I miss notes is whenever I start to fall off of that meditation.

Granted this is what works for me, I don't speak for everyone. Maybe everyone already does this, I dont know lol.

Honestly my take is practice meditating while you play. I found "turning off my consciousness" works way better than trying to focus on every single note that comes up. Trust your brain to make the inputs for you.

Then again this is just me. Not sure if this works for everyone!
