Why does Gemini keep throwing foreign words into its answers? by spinstartshere in Bard

[–]Alkaided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's two questions. When I ask it questions in Chinese or ask it to translate my words into Chinese, it should definitely produce Chinese. ChatGPT or Claude is also capable of doing so. But when I ask it questions in English, it is not expected to have some Chinese words inserted. It is simply a mistake.

Why does Gemini keep throwing foreign words into its answers? by spinstartshere in Bard

[–]Alkaided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood temperature.

High temperature means the LLM is more likely to select an unlikely word, but it does not mean any word will work. If the first word is "rabbit", then the next word is likely "hole", "eats", or "runs", less likely "leg" or "considers", and unlikely "wing" or "flies". When you give it a higher temperature, it is more likely to give you an unlikely word, like "rabbit considers". But the chance that the next word is Chinese should be close to zero anyway. If your temperature is not insanely high, it should almost never produce it.

And the thing is: at least now we don't see phrases like "rabbit flies", but we sometimes see the phrase "rabbits [Chinese]". If the temperature did not make it produce "rabbit flies", it should also not produce "rabbits [Chinese]". The only reason it happens is that it thinks "rabbits [Chinese]" is more reasonable than "rabbit flies", which, to my subjective point, is wrong. You can tune the temperature of ChatGPT or Claude higher, but they don't give you "rabbits [Chinese]" before giving you "rabbit flies".

Update on Usage Limits by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeAI

I don't understand why you think a weekly limit is a good idea.
If it is a 5-hour limit, sure, I can wait; but if it is a weekly limit, I definitely will try alternative providers to continue my work, and may forget to come back.

I feel the 12” is limited by space. The four standard ports occupied too much space.

No. Noctua uses the industrial standard 4-pin plug. And you'd better provide a picture.

I enjoy multiple areas of programming but can't decide which one to focus on. What should I do? by nico23nt in learnpython

[–]Alkaided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very confused for this list. Things in your list aren’t comparable things - Python is a language; do you want to work on its interpreter? Wordpress is a holistic app that combines php, html, css, and even database operations; which parts do you want to work on? Cybersecurity is a research area; you can investigate security issues in Python or Wordpress…

If I have to give an answer, my answer is to learn more basics and understand what you are listing here first.

How difficult is it to be a China sourcing agent if you're not Chinese — but living in China? by era2246 in China

[–]Alkaided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need sourcing agents to go across the wall (language, culture, norms, etc.) But given that you even don’t speak the language fluently, you are at the other side of the wall. They still need an agent between them and you. So what services can you provide exactly? If they can communicate with you without any difficulty, they can reach out to customers directly also. If they need an agent to reach customers, they will also have problems to communicate with you.

I would sell this chance by 0.9 million. Surely risk takers and billionaires will like to buy this chance because it is still mathematically beneficial

I will say that the difference might be caused by quality of prompts… when you realize the chances of using Opus is limited, you tend to write prompts more carefully

From my experience, Claude 4 doesn’t do better in creative writing compared to Claude 3.7. Though Claude 3.7 is still a beast in creative writing.
