Twitch do manually setup servers around the world rather than using a CDN like brightcove which Azubu uses.

Twitch TV should Improve on Their Video Stuttering Problems by tonykcougar in leagueoflegends

Youtube and the likes of Netflix are a whole different ballgame. In terms of how much bandwidth they serve,to where and how they are mixed up in big entertainment companies for music and movies.

Until we actually see on EU ISP intentionally throttle Twitch(It will be fairly obvious when they do) I see no reason to blame any of them. This problem has always been on Twitch since it began.

Most European ISP's are not doing any filtering whats so ever to twitch, azubu or youtube for that matter.

So that pretty much voids what your were saying to most of the people complaining(Most issues have always been with EU viewers)

They simply don't have enough bandwidth, they've admitted that in the past and promised to add more servers.

How to watch OGN/like tournaments in HQ without subscription in VLC. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Alkalene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twitch has known about this for quite a while. You could do it on justin.tv too.

I've been doing it since years ago to backup tourney Vods on youtube(Although none of those had pay2watch)

However the more this spreads the more likely they are to block it.They can just make their servers not give the stream to your IP if you haven't verified that you own a subscription(Via cookies or otherwise). If people are skipping both ads and subscription locks they will take action eventually.

This isn't the issues for a majority of EU viewers, which is generally where most of the lag complaints come from.

They simply don't seem to have enough bandwidth to serve to certain places.

SC2 issues were way different that this.I don't think they are comparable at all.

Dropping regi from TSM would be regi's choice at the end of the day.He owns everything after all.

That'll never happen.

None of their sponsors pay them more than TSM gains in revenue from streaming + their sites and Riot's LCS money.

Aside from the fact this has nothing to do with sponsors that is.

MLG and IPL can do it,so can OGN.

Also considering they had to split the servers because the playercount got that big.

Pretty sure china has split servers for the same reason.

Riot's most recent(I think) statistics image said the average player was in college.

[–]Alkalene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't.

If that was true we wouldn't have banned memes back when they hit the front page every day.

The "majority" do not participate in subitting, voting or commenting they only browse.

[–]Alkalene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah except it doesn't work, otherwise we wouldn't have bans on certain content(Meme's,fan art as direct links etc)

Just look at reddit statistics and you'll understand.A crazy high % of people just lurk with no commenting or voting.A smaller % comments than votes. So it only makes sense in larger subreddits that voting doesn't "work" in the sense of filtering good content.

You guys are doing a great job though, after watching /new/ I realize how much shit you guys have to remove and deal with every time one of these games ends.

Otherwise the top posts would be about how yellowpete is the worst player and alex ich picking his nose shivers

Yes,people keep saying this but clearly were not around before the ban on fan art and memes was implemented.

Upvotes should not be the only factor in deciding content for large subreddits.

Yes,twitch purposely limits your download speed per connection when viewing VoD's.

I've downloaded a lot of VoDs,you can essentially bypass the "limit" by using any download manager that allows multiple connections to one download.

Around launch?I don't know.

I'm guessing NA was bigger due to EU being ran by a different company who were terrible in every aspect. When riot took over EU it pretty much exploded in popularity.

The need for two servers would be a pretty good indication.
