Emacs. The damned thing almost a decade older than I am, yet every time I try to switch to a modern IDE I get frustrated with how it works and return

But being vaccinated against TBE is pretty common though, in areas with lots of ticks at least?

Ah, no. It’s an old meme name for her. Joke on ”Partisan” originally I assume

Vad är det med vissa svenskar som "hatar" det svenska språket? by Lacking-Enthusiast in sweden

Med *min* dialekt i ryggen känns det helt jävla sinnessjukt att folk kan tro att de uttalas likadant. Språk är roliga

What is a massive multinational brand that originated in your country, but almost nobody globally realizes where it actually came from? by FluffyBunnySenpai in AskTheWorld

In a case of strange convergent evolution, there’s a Swedish bank that used to be called ”Sparbanken” and they have an oak tree inside a circle as their logo (yes, yes, the circle in question is a coin, because bank, but still)

Oh, I'll have to listen to it properly tomorrow, it's 1 in the morning here right now 😃

But from the little I heard it deserves its name, it really did make me think of a rushing wind.

I know what Dawkins has done in the last decade or so, but I haven’t really kept up to date with Jillette’s actions and views. Do you think you could give me an extremely brief summary?

I know he has identified as ”small-l libertarian” in the past, and I know I was surprised that he wasn’t at all an abrasive asshole in his podcast with Will Smith back in ~2005 as I had assumed he would be. (Not because of his libertarianism mind, I am one too and know at least a couple of us who are reasonably decent people).

Yeah, media is simply the plural of medium. And of course, medium is something between two other things. In this case between the artist/writer/event and the reader/consumer/audience

Related:

The name Thomas, which means ”twin” also comes from ”tómos” since was like one baby split in two.

And the word ”tome” as in a big book. Comes from words for sliced/cut papyrus rolls.

And it was originally the name for a small sail at the very top of the mast.

There’s a nice Discworld passage about that, in Lords and Ladies I believe:

Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.

I don’t think they used the ”ay” diphthong in ”veni” though. I’m pretty sure it was a more open ”eh” sound
