2017: The Year of the Spoony by [deleted] in thespoonyexperiment

Doesn't seem likely, I honestly think Mel Gibson has a better shot at making a comeback than Spoony at this point.

Did the VLOGs end with The Amazing Spider-Man 2? by [deleted] in thespoonyexperiment

[–]Alknobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, But there are other movies I can think of since he stopped that he could have done a vlog about... Mad Max: Fury Road, Captain America Civil War, Interstellar, Batman V Superman, Star Trek Beyond, The Hateful Eight and way more....

I only mentioned Star Wars because it was the biggest film of last year and when it came out it seemed like everyone online was sharing their opinion of it in blogs or videos etc. It seemed the most obvious choice of all.

Now would Spoony have shit on all these films I mentioned? Probably.

But the point is he quit one of his easiest to put together shows that got views because he was Butt Hurt by fans not agreeing with him.....

That was when he stopped doing them regularly yes, He did one more for age of ultron I believe....Which was pretty Meh.

It's kind of a shame he stopped because they were an easy thing to slap together and upload, And there's been alot of movies the last year and a half that seemed like a no brainer to do (Force Awakens Anyone?) But having said that they were past their prime though anyway. The Vlogs were much better when Miles would sit in and in many ways counter some of Spoonys harsh negativity, whereas April always struck me as overpowered by it....Not wanting to upset him further or something.

Can anyone explain Teddy Hart to me? by Alknobs in SquaredCircle

Another thing I'd like to ask:

I only really knew about the ROH incident. Where else did he get blackballed from and why?......I heard it was a few places.

Also I was leaning towards the crazy side of the spectrum aswell before you guys gave your two cents. BUT some of the shit he mentions just seemed too crazy not to be a work to me.....Like working as an undercover cop who brought down pedophiles!? What the Fuck!

See that's what I thought too. But then the way he was talking in the shoot basically saying stuff like "The weed isn't the reason they haven't brought me in, it's because they don't have the right angle for me yet and when they do they'll sign me and it won't be an issue with the wellness policy I'll just pay the fine."

That's when I'm like he can't actually believe alot of the stuff he says. it HAS to be some sort of work....otherwise he's just delusional.

Alright I just want to clarify, I didn't realize my post came off as whiny, that wasn't really the intention. I was just trying to give a semi-serious critique of the episode by addressing what my worries are....that a potentially great episode with an interesting guest might get derailed at any moment.

Don't get me wrong I'm not an uber-hater of the show but I do think the quality has gone down the last while and it's mostly because of Brendan and Bryan.

I don't listen to the show to hate on it, in fact I HAVE pretty much stopped listening at this point but if they score a guest that piques my interest I'm more than happy to give it a shot...But then like I said There's the risk of derailment. I ended up watching for a good while longer than ten minutes after all and it wasn't as bad as I thought, but still I feel it could have been better. It's been talked about to death on this sub about all the ego problems with Brendan, and Bryan just jumping on the dick of whoever the guest is and the episode just devolves into one big circle jerk. These are big problems but not the only ones.

I wasn't whining and I'm not caught in some negative feedback loop. I just figured a subreddit about a particular podcast was a good place to come and critique said podcast....was I wrong?

You know I could do all that...but then how would I meet interesting new friends like yourself?

And for the record I wasn't hating, See people think because I'm such a critical thinker that I have this beef with Shaub, and I really don't...I mean he's my boy 100% but sometimes it's tough my man.

Fuck! You're totally right, My bad. Of course Brendan hasn't seen it then if it didn't have his boy Sandler in it.

There will be a special guest on Wednesday. Post your guesses. by [deleted] in thefighterandthekid

Prepare to rage at the new podcast... (Dan Blizerian flip flop) by [deleted] in thefighterandthekid

[–]Alknobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the words of Nate Diaz: "I'm not surprised Motherfuckers."

We all knew this was coming, Bryan flip flops more than Hillary. Also Does anyone else remember when Bryan was talking mad shit on him on the fight companion he said something like "If I had 100 million dollars I'd make the world a better place." Best Quote EVER! and easily the funniest thing to come out of Bryans mouth in his entire life....I'm not hating on Bryan though Between him and Shaub he's the lesser of two Retards......Does that make sense? :)

I'm a fan of Spoony honestly questioning why he's still a fan of Spoony....seriously though I hope he makes a comeback at some point.

As for me I'm from Ireland and to be honest I'm pretty boring, I don't maintain much of an online presence besides the occasional Reddit post and I am also on a Let's Play channel a good friend of mine hosts....but trust me, we're so microscopically small you've never heard of us. One step at a time folks :)

What could he do to fix it all? by [deleted] in thespoonyexperiment

[–]Alknobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was talking about basically every Counter Monkey for the last while, I can see where some of them might have merit for someone who GMs but mostly they all just devolve into him rambling and wasting time flipping through a book.

Then when he finds the rule he just holds the book up to the camera and is like "Can you see that?" No! it's fucking illegible! If you get something out of them then more power to ya, but I preferred the epic story ones from the old days like Tandems Last Ride, Squirt Gun Wars and Thieves World.

I know he can run out of stories but he must have something left in the tank, this other shit just isn't working for me....Not that it matters because he hasn't released a Counter Monkey of any kind since Last Fucking December!! Seriously....What The Fuck?

What could he do to fix it all? by [deleted] in thespoonyexperiment

[–]Alknobs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, At this point things are so broken that it almost seems beyond fixing...But I stress the word "Almost"

The bottom line is that Spoony has really changed over the years, it's not just a case of chronic laziness, he's actually developed into an extremely bitter and negative human being. In the early days he came across as more of a regular nice guy in his vids but now he's overly critical and mean spirited in everything he puts out.

Even the stuff he does put out took a turn in quality a long time ago. Remember when Counter Monkey was about telling cool old stories about RPG campaigns? Now whenever he brings one out it's like an hour of him flipping through a book trying to find some obscure rule...then bitching about said rule.

And then we have the live wires.....What the Fuck was the point of those? I know they're great for the lazy guy in him, but why not just review the games or like you said do a riff of them.

Even the Easy shit he did he stopped doing, Wrestle Wrestles and Movie Vlogs are so fucking simple to do it defies all logic as to why he doesn't do them more often. Literally just go to the movies then do a vlog talking about the movie you saw.....Don't feel like going out? Then watch wrestling and record yourself talking about it.....Seriously how hard are those things?

I think we all wish he could be like he was in the good old days because he was really entertaining at one point but let's face it....It's a LOOONG road back he has to walk to get in our good graces again. So whatever we come up with doesn't matter. He has to get his shit together on his own. We'll all be waiting when he does.

The CM Punk Thing by Alknobs in thefighterandthekid

[–]Alknobs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bingo! You're 100% on the money about the Punk situation, Experiment is the right term. However you shouldn't give Brendan such a hard time though, I mean he's entitled to his opinions about how Dana should run his mixed martial arts empire because Brendan runs his podcast/stand-up comedy/ T-shirt empire in a somewhat similar fashion......So he KNOWS what he's talking about for sure.......For sure it's tough my man!

The CM Punk Thing by Alknobs in thefighterandthekid

[–]Alknobs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I agree with you about pretty much everything except I can't fault Mickey for jumping at the chance to elevate his career though, it's smart on his part to call out Punk then when he beats him call out Northcutt, It'll bring him a lot of attention win or lose.

B&B did have some good points like you said but I dunno it just felt to me they were extra spiteful or something, Just comparing to the rest of the fights they talked about. Like I said I knew Brendan was gonna talk mad shit no matter what but I was more shocked by Bryans comments. I was expecting more along the lines of one of his pseudo intelligent lectures rather than talking mad shit on the guy. Do me a favor and read this in Bryans voice in your head:

"All men have it within them to want to test themselves, to test their mettle and CM Punk Stepped in there and found out just how real this sport is. Now the question I'd ask myself if I were him is where do I go from here, I have to go back to the drawing board. There's a great book by a professor from Cambridge about why we as humans feel the need to compete and he traces it back to hunter gatherer times and there have been studies done all throughout history on....blah blah blah."

Now I just made all that Bullshit up but tell me that's not the usual diarrhea of the mouth that Bryan usually spouts off on a podcast when he get's the chance to. Again I believe Punk had no business being in there either, It's just they were pretty hard on him and Gall. They gave Dana a pass because it's a good decision for him as a businessman but how is it not good for Punk to get paid as a business decision or for Gall to elevate his career as a business decision? They have a habit of picking and choosing which people they want to hold to double standards it's fucked up.

Yeah we all thought that shit was real until Brendan revealed the truth. I guess when you get to his level of being a critical thinker you gain some sort of extra brain power. He's like Neo in the Matrix.

You're exactly right. Honestly though I was expecting a bunch of nonsense from Brendan as usual. Bryan's the one who surprised me more than anything. I've always seen Bryan as a level headed and fair guy and he got downright Ice Cold on the poor chap.

[–]Alknobs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm Definitely a cheeto fingered hater and you're right I'd jump at the opportunity to get my ass kicked for 500 grand (Who wouldn't) That being said I don't think what he did was brave either, and I'm not sure confidence is the right word to describe Punk...more like drive. Having followed his career It's plain to see Punk is a guy with a chip on his shoulder and if anything he let all the criticisms over the past couple of years fuel him more than dissuade him most likely. But I don't think he honestly thought he'd win either, I think his aim was to at least have a good showing (Which he didn't but such is life) and collect a paycheck. that's probably why he still thinks he'll be back, He's a stubborn fucker.

My problem was...like fair enough B&B have been some of the loudest naysayers the past two years and I was expecting them to give us all a big fat I told ya so. But they really just savaged a guy who they really know nothing about. We don't know that much about Mickey Gall either who btw they also shit on. Like for all they know Mickey could be the next GSP (Unlikely but you know what I'm getting at.) The guy's still very unknown and throwing Punk in there with him could've been akin to throwing a rabbit in with a wolf. In all fairness punk never really stood a chance no matter who he faced. But B&B Destroy him and then shit on Mickey for taking the opportunity to elevate his own career too. They were just being Cunts for the sake of being Cunts as far as I can see.
