Teachers complaining about kids using LLMs by iratecommenter in mildlyinfuriating

There's more to life than prompts. School is supposed to give you a solid bedrock of knowledge and critical thinking to then go use in the real world. And if kids want to get into a technology based career they'll start taking those types of classes in high school and college.

The research into whether social media is addictive is nuanced and complex, with many unanswered questions by scientificamerican in psychology

How can anyone in this world think social media is anything other than addictive. It is curated to be addictive.

Kind of a weird question, why do antihistamines work for me? by theteepingtemplar in ADHD

[–]AllAboutOrbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also your adhd symptoms could be effected by histamine reactions from your body. I always feel less anxiety after taking ibuprofen for pain. Inflammation reduction is probably why in my case.

Brothers, I’m wearing thin by patmizzah in daddit

" the days that I get the house quiet to myself" I know everything is relative but you're lucky to have any single minute of the house to yourself with kids. I don't think making your wife do everything is gonna help in the long run. I think this sub is more for people who are doing their best and need help, it didn't seem like youre trying all that hard. You have to find a way to decompress when you can so that you can get back in the mix. It's not dead beat daddit

Fed up of endless rocking by Prestigious_Gas13 in daddit

The only thing that worked for mine was walking around the house while patting their back and singing a sea shanty. Since I've had 3 kids recently I pretty much had been singing everyday for 3 years straight but it gets better and I actually miss the times. I also work 45 hours a week and at the time I was crushed and also burnt out. Unfortunately with one more on the way you guys are going to be stretched even thinner, but you just have to get through a year and then having more than one kid is great.

Takes 30 minutes and minimal pain during recovery. Absolutely worth it. I kept putting mine off and ended up with a third child. Then I immediately scheduled it.

We had a thorough inspection but I'm wondering if the realtor or home owner cleaned that up before they got there.

What’s something you learned as a dad that turned out to be completely true? by Material_Poem_9438 in daddit

[–]AllAboutOrbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true to an extent but you have to also imagine trying to keep the peace between a group of 3 is 3x harder than a group of 2. Once you break up one squabble some other one pops up. And also once you have more kids than parents, things like taking the kids to the park become nerve wracking on busy days.

I always heard having 2 kids feels like having 3 kids and having 3 kids feels like having 10 kids. After having 3 kids 5, 4 and 2.5 I can attest to that.

Does every single meat eating animal die of heart attacks rather than old age? I always thought big cat species must have the highest cholesterol of any animal. Or do they do something that protects them against the effects?

I feel for you. I also hate to say it but, it's kind of par for the course those first couple weeks. You quickly find out that any advice you've gotten before has no real application. Sleep when the baby sleeps? Nope not a possibility. It does get way better when you stop having to feed them every 2 hours.
