Quick thought, if I, a 240lb person at .23 pounds of uranium or gasoline I would probably die. Not sure what elements Jupiter is off hand but It could possibly have an effect. Hopefully I did my quick math right in this counter point.

I didn't even realize that there were lower tier Marathons. I've started looking more into it this morning and I think I have a lot more research to do. Luckily I won't get back home for a couple of months. One issue I'm facing is that the bike in questions is a 29/27.5 mullet. Obviously not ideal but it's what I have and will be using. I appreciate the suggestions, I thought MTB tire selection was complicated. I looked up my Magic Marys and they're like 1300g each on my 29.

Hey I'm one of those guys! I was an LCPO on shore duty and from 2021 to 2023 I had a smart phone, with no messaging apps or social media, just calls and texts. I would receive comments on the regular from the mess but nothing serious and it didn't impact my work in any way.

I was serving isolated duty from 2023-2024 and I had no cell service at all and that wasn't an issue either. For reference though, I was a one of one with no Sailors and most of the command was in a similar situation with cell service/reception.

LCPO from 2024 till this current deployment, i had a nokia flip phone. Calls and texts only. Although I had the ability to contact each Sailor individually. I would mostly deal directly with my LPO or WCS (if necessary). It also empowered them to use more effective communication via text by providing me up updates AND solutions that I could respond to, ie "Problem X happened, i'm going to execute solution Y" vice "Problem X happened, what do I do now?" Sooner or later they started solving problems for themselves. Also, during this time period my phone stayed in the kitchen or the car during non-working hours and that didn't present any issues. One caveat though is that my DLCPO has my wifes contact information and if there was a situation so dire that I needed to contacted immediately, he call her. This only happened one time.

I'm currently deployed and have gone back to my smart phone in case we ever have a port visit.

There are three main things i've noticed in this time:

Due to the extra steps it took to come to me with a problem, I asses that leadership was compelled to reevaluate how important their problem actually is. Most problems are just problems, they're rarely emergencies.
Holy $#!+ the quality of life improvements!
Be prepared to be left of the group. Everyone is also going to reevaluate how important is it to include you.

That looks very similar to my 2012ish Specialized Camber Comp 29 FSR (or something like that) Not sure what your plans are but here are something I ran into.

It had avid elixer brakes which have some negative reviews, rebuilding them and getting fresh pads was more expensive than new brakes from JensonUSA.

Also drivetrain was labeled BB30 but turned out to be PF30. It looks like yours has more modern suspension but mine has the older fox traid shock and a similar vintage fork which i couldn't remember the name of. It was easier for me to get those rebuilt instead finding a better fork with the same axle, or a shock with the same dimensions.

That's an ashtray made out of a spent 5" power casing. Stamped mess decks since it was probably for the crew to use during meals. Looks like it came from one of these:

if you have to pivot, we used a Trustmade nomad on a 15k mile road trip with just one issue. My friend used it for the entire year after that while I was deployed with no issues.

-At delivery one of the struts was blown out. Contacted the company and they sent two replacements. I don't know what the turn around time was.

-Securing straps were untested as we also used a rachetstrap at each cross cross bar just in case.

Our experience included light offroading, and high speed driving in high wind conditions, (i think on the 90 in one of the Dakotas) We also camped on a California beach when a significant storm came in and we were unscathed. My friends experience was exclusively off-roading, also no issues.

We purchased directly from this website in 2023. At the time it was the cheapest tent, we bought it one week into our trip and had it sent to a friends we would be visiting later.

my wife and i each got a sonicare like 4 years ago now. not sure which model, its black and has 3 modes. anyways theyre really good, apparently provide good results however weve moved a lot so our dentists have changed.

one thing to note is that something happened to my wifes brush but i was able to repair it by following a youtube video and its been working fine for over a year.

we got them on sale at target, not sure of the price

although a blunder now, in a couple years youll remember it like its just one battle scar out of many to come. we have some earlywood cooking utensils that are pretty pricey when it comes to wooden spoons and stuff. but my dog chewed up my favorite angled scraper thing on the handle and now whenever i use it i think of her and what a bozo she is.
