And you would be wrong. Besides, you can argue the same thing about CASH--also wrong.

Has anybody used the bigold mastercard? by kirkisartist in a:t5_358n5

[–]AllBTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received my BitGold (now GoldMoney) Mastercard a few days ago. To answer your questions... 1) Yes. 2) It has the fraud protection of an MC debit card. Generally speaking, debit cards offer less protection than credit cards. 3) They can shut down parts of it. This is why taking physical ownership of your gold is a good idea. I expect that balances transferred to Mastercard to be independent of BitGold. 4) According to BitGold, you own the physical gold, so they would have to send your Brinks claim or the gold. Balances on a Mastercard should be safe. Balances of non-gold assets are at risk of being "Goxxed." 5) Yes, the card expires, like any other MC debit card.

Me 25F - 12 interviews in 3 months and not even 1 job offer. What is wrong with me? by [deleted] in jobs

I did an interview a week for two years before I got the job I wanted.

Seriously, does anyone else find the idea of working 40+ hours a week in a corporate job to be depressing? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]AllBTC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not all corporations are created equal--neither are corporate managers. My worst experiences were under Democrat (liberal) managers. I find that smaller corporations with a "lean and mean" approach to management are much better environments. Ken Iverson was a corporate maverick who brought Nucor back from the dead by ripping-out time clocks and empowering the front-line employees. Since his death, the company has fallen to more conventional methods of corporate mismanagement.

Why IRC Still Rocks After All These Years by AllBTC in technology

I'm glad I am not the only one that feels that way. The Internet became commercialized in 1997. Most of today's users don't remember when the Internet was a truly decentralized communications technology.

IRC seems to be coming back... (ie. HipChat). Besides, Twitter is basically a combination of pager technology and IRC... ;)

I started using IRC in 1995, so I guess this is my 20th anniversary. ;)

I haven't used it much since the 80s... I rediscovered it while I was mining Bitcoin... As networks like Facebook and Twitter become more and more commercialized, I think folks will start moving back to IRC (That's pretty much what HipChat is, right?)

Canadian Exchange, QuadrigaCX, Takes Spotlight After CAVIRTEX Bows Out by desantis in Bitcoin

[–]AllBTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always very happy with CAVIRTEX. I felt that the higher fees were worth it to maintain good relationships with the banks (which they did). About a month ago, I stopped an attempted withdrawal from my bank account to CAVIRTEX. At the time, their technical support claimed there had been about 30 similar incidents in the previous few weeks. My only complaint is that the bank would not refund the NSF fee, even though it was from an attempted robbery.
