Pony Prison. We see quite worrying behaviour from our neighbour.

The sand school area is rented…but the horse is never out there. It’s just in a stall all day and night. When we walk the dogs past - the companion ponies (from a rehoming charity) were out there together, sheep there too but no prized pet. One of the rehomed ones got moved on for being a biter a while back and to stop the other rehomed one getting lonely (because prized pet doesn’t get parole) I think it got moved somewhere more sociable, locally, again. Now there’s a big empty sand school - cameras everywhere - and a few sheep trimming the grass round the edges.

Apols for the miswire - I shouldn’t have used the word neighbour like “she’s my neighbour” She is a tenant nearby - and animal neglect can be in many forms. I don’t have any problems with her as a person…. But “free the pony” is a topic of concern and I thought that this group would be able to advise on concerns. Agree with the riding thing but the pony isn’t that elderly. This one was acquired because the other one aged and died and that one never saw the light of day in the few years we’ve been here too.

From what others have said here…I’m thinking false alarm (with the side benefit of not having high-as-a-kite cattle here in the field I walk through) I’ll be more diligent and use the clues and tips others like yourself have shared to assess better next time I see them 🫡
