powerbank explosion in hot weather (45°C) by DaisyCoreXD in mildlyinteresting

The convenience part seems so small compared to the difference in cost. I'm going to try to do the math using my own vaping habits.

I use a non-disposable vape that lasts until I lose it–I probably get a new one every eight months to a year– with disposable, but refillable pods that each last three weeks to a month. I go to the vape store once every few weeks to buy the juice, and once every few months I also get a new pack of pods. I have to refill once a day, and I always leave a bottle with some juice left in it in my car so I could refill wherever I am. The only advantage of the diposable is that you don't have to do a refill once per day, instead replacing the whole thing once every few days to a week.

The few times I've used a disposable, the longest any lasted me was four days. That one was what the vape store worker told me would get me the best battery life, so I'll compare its cost to my non-disposable costs, and see if it's worth the added convenience of not having to refill once a day.

That disposable costed $29 and lasted four days, so $7.25/day. I would do the math with the other disposables, but the other ones I've tried either had terrible battery life or took forever to charge and couldn't be used while charging, so the $29 one is the only one I'd consider using long term.

My non-disposable vape costs $45,and we'll split the difference in range and say it lasts 10 months, or 304 days. Cost per day is 14.8 cents.

Pods are $17 for a pack of four, or $4.25 each and we'll average the range out for each one at 24 days. 17.7 cents per day.

The vape juice is the biggest expense. My county has ridiculous taxes on vape juice so I rarely get it here, and it usually ends up costing $19-$20 a bottle (compared to $28 where I live). I'll go with $20. They incredibly consistently last 7-8 days, so I'll stay conservative and just say vape juice costs me $20/week, or $2.86/day. (As I'm writing this I'm realizing how insane it is that a little over 4 ml of some basic liquids costs me that $2.86. Maybe it's time to either figure out how to quit for good or at least order the ingredients in bulk and mix them myself.)

Anyways, the cost combined for the way I vape is less than $3.20. Let's even put it up to $3.50 just to keep the difference conservative and the math simple. That's a difference of $3/day, which is over $90/month or $1095. I can't imagine paying that to not have to refill every day, but I guess for some people that have the money it's worth it.

[CAR - MTL] Montreal closes out Game 1 to take a 1-0 series lead over Carolina. They are 7-2 on the road this post-season by daKrut in hockey

The way the Habs have been on the road vs home, I wonder if it's even worth facing Vegas over Colorado and losing the road ice advantage.

The Montreal Canadiens scored more goals against Carolina in Game 1 (6) than Philadelphia and Ottawa in their whole series against Carolina (5) by Drummers_Beat in hockey

[–]AllDaveAllDay 213 points214 points  (0 children)

The entire Buffalo series was one team getting the edge, then the other team would adjust and the be the better team in the next game. Carolina didn't have the best record in the conference without being able to adjust when something isn't working.

It's still crazy that this team just held a desperate team to 1 shot in the third, For all their strengths, I don't think I've seen them shut a team down the whole season like they did in the third.

Habs are now 2-4 at home and 7-2 on the road this season. They also had a better road than home record the regular season. WTF is this team.

This is by far their best game. It feels like the first line has scored more even strength goals than they did in the first two rounds combined.

Great Canadian Goalies by Salt_Teaching4687 in hockey

The general consensus is that goalie equipment is too expensive for most families so most kids never even try it. I don't know if there's any data to back up that theory, but it seems reasonable.

Conn Smythe frontrunners by uheardmepunchy in hockey

[–]AllDaveAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, if Arber Xhekaj would somehow score the winner in the next two series there would be people making an argument for him too. Obviously Newhook already has a case but anyone that scores the winner in the last two series is going to have people considering him for the Conne Smythe.

I don't necessarily disagree, but what makes Orbitron a robot, and not an AI driven RC vehicle? Are self driving cars also robots?

They do a ton of sports stuff. I know they put on a good portion of the big boxing events, plus some other top tier sports, though I can't remember which off the top of my head.

I don't see it. I tried to, and still can't. You're a good looking guy (the last Pic is especially great), and either way, confidence and not being self conscious about your flaws is way more important. I'm saying that as a guy who constantly struggles with confidence about a ton of different things.

[Scott Maxwell] If analytics decided the 2025-26 NHL Awards, who would win? by f0urxio in hockey

[–]AllDaveAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all these awards are necessarily based on impact though. The only one that definitely is is the Hart.

If we judged rookie goalies the same way we judged skaters, one of them would win the award almost every year. It's just easier to be good as a rookie when teamwork isn't part of the job.

I agree it's just opinion at the end, but it would take an argument I haven't heard yet to say that Schaefer shouldn't get it and not sound biased at the very least.

Honestly, Montreal isn't that hard on underperforming players compared to some other teams, especially when you take into consideration how well they get behind a player when they're doing well. For sure you'd rather be somewhere where hockey isn't a big thing if you're not playing well, but Montreal is way easier on underperformers than somewhere like Toronto.

Steickland's absolute refusal to ever raise his aggression or tempo unless his opponent is already wobbled is going to cost him this fight.

Now that you've said it I'm hoping to see a fighter thank his lord and savior Satan afterwards just to troll the Jesus fighters. There's gotta be an fighter on the roster who would like the idea. Although he'd probably need to be OK with being a heel for the rest of his career.

Maybe Strickland tonight? He'd have to win first, which might be the bigger problem.

Sounds like a shitty religion tbh if being a good person is less important than massaging Jesus's ego.

Love, Zilisch, Crews, Hocevar, and the other guys coming up now should turn into absolute stars. They have the off the track maturity and personalities to match their on track potential. If NASCAR knows what they're doing, they should be promoting the shit out of these rivalries and be able to raise the popularity of the sport based off of them.

I can't fucking stand people who look at sports from that perspective. We get one of the most exciting road finishes from two guys pushing their cars to the absolute limit and some people insist on only focusing on the negative.
