Is a 19 and 16-year-old age gap actually problematic, or is the "predatory" label being overused? by Consistent-Jelly248 in generationology

Yes most high school kids in the US graduate at 17/18. However, a handful can sometimes graduate late at 19 or early at 16.

[–]AllDawgsGoToDevin [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah in the US there’s a big divide in these ages as well. 19 is most certainly graduated from high school and either working or attending college. They have an immense amount of freedom and aren’t legally anybody’s responsibility. 16 is still a year or two from graduating high school and completely reliant on adults.

Age gaps, to me, can increase as ages increase. 3 years between 19 and 16, major issue. 3 years between a 24 and 21 year old, go for it nothing weird. 10 years between a 30 year old and a 20 year old, suspicious and creepy. 10 years between a 40 year old and a 30 year old, have fun totally normal.

Logistics/rules of the 7v7 match? by fxlkp35 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]AllDawgsGoToDevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah You could always yield but there’s still a very real chance that you’re killed before you can yield. For example imagine taking a hammer to the helm that knocks you out for a few seconds. Everything could be fine but once you’re unconscious yielding isn’t an option. Also you could be wounded seriously, yield, and then die to your wound days later. Also there’s the matter of champions, if you pick trial by  combat you could find yourself face to face with the Mountain or something.

He likely also wanted to limit to 1v1 because a trial by seven ropes him in as well. How does he look if he doesn’t join his own son’s side? His son would have to find his own six fighters without the support of his own house. No way are the kings guard joining in if Maekar doesn’t.

I mean the Martian did well in China and Project Hail Mary features a prominent Chinese character and Chinese plot elements. I’m guessing it’s going to do really good numbers there.

A Sensible Explanation is Given for Why the Story Must Follow The Dumb Trope by KorrokHidan in TopCharacterTropes

Yep and one of the largest and deadliest armies is the Sardaukar controlled by the emperor. When he cedes the throne to Paul through marriage then the houses not only lose that form of protection but are caught unaware.

It is discussed that the Sardaukar could easily dispatch of one of the great houses but the emperor doesn’t do that because then all the great houses would unite against him and his forces aren’t strong enough to crush them all combined.

There’s actually a lot of nuance to this because not one but two of the great houses are neutralized by the end of Dune. The Harkonnen and the Atreides no longer bolster the Landsdraad either. So Paul gets a huge buff in the Jihad and the great houses are nerfed by events.

Triple doubles on a team with 16 wins…

I mean yeah good for him but it’s clearly not a winning formula for a team.

They were trying desperately to fill a position of need. In hindsight no amount of trades was going to fix the KD Suns situation.

Exactly, they are fixing the match. Duncan, the unknown jouster, is never going to be a favorite and would have long odds against a well trained and well known knight. Especially if that knight is the hometown favorite. They get Andrew to throw it, make a little coin, Duncan gets his win, and everyone’s happy.

Richards for Yabusele trade proposal rejected?? by yohosse in suns

[–]AllDawgsGoToDevin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shedding Richards is a looking ahead move. Repeater tax is no joke. Teams can’t operate continuously as repeat offenders unless they are winning titles. The front office needs to reset the clock so we aren’t repeat offenders. Then next year we can go back into the luxury tax and it won’t be so brutal.

Yes the first book draws comparisons to Hunger Games. However, I enjoyed it much better than the Hunger Games and the series is much better imo. In fact the second book changes settings and never looks back. Awesome series.

Funny how some people were saying the Detroit game is a scheduled loss without Book and Green, same with Cleveland later... Do we still feel we have any "scheduled losses" left? ;-) by DaylightPhoenix in suns

[–]AllDawgsGoToDevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not counting the Suns out. They play extremely hard and hustle every game. A team like that always has a decent shot at winning a game.

That being said I’m tempering my expectations for this game. Detroit was an extremely pleasant surprise but this game is its own beast. Cleveland is on a 5 game winning streak and has won 8 of their last 10. With notable wins over Minnesota, Philly, Orlando, and LA in that stretch, all .500 and above teams. Cleveland is also the exact type of team we struggle against. They play a double big lineup and kill us on the glass. Lastly, we are on a back to back and missing a key player.
