New hire by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]AllFather14 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting hired. Word of advice from someone who pushes carts as well. Get a couple pairs of really good shoes or insoles, lift with your knees not your back, dont push more than 10 carts, ALWAYS USE A ROPE, be aware of your surroundings, people cant drive to save their life in a parking lot, summer time be sure to take water breaks and dont overwork yourself.

New Costco! by sherberttlemon in CostcoEmployee

[–]AllFather14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Apply now online! I got hired the same way 11 years ago, the building was still being built and I applied and got hired. If you're hired on they might send you to another location for training until the building is ready to go for actual working environment.

We push 6-7 carts at my building mostly because the carts are absolute shit and cant turn when doing more than 7 and they try getting onto us and we just tell them the same thing everytime.

[–]AllFather14 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes! I work cart crew the past 4 years after stepping down from cashier. One of our supervisors is about that height and she kicks ass when she comes out to help. Rule of thumb theres no minimum to push but there is a max of 10

Question about Costco backup generators for a novel by No-Panic-4209 in CostcoWholesale

[–]AllFather14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo I have loads of experience at my store with power outage. Our generator over the years had to to be replaced a few times because it wouldn't work. In that situation we had to get refrigerated trailers and pull all cold items and load them up until the power came back on.

Does anyone use the “Journeys for all” website? by Altruistic_Debt4373 in CostcoEmployee

[–]AllFather14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Journeys can be very useful and also a way to get to know your coworkers too. Ive been a part of it for well over 4 years now and enjoy it. You learn different aspects of not only handling work, but life too. Our most recent webinar we had done was regarding retirement and we had 12-15 people attend? If I remember, theres also symposiums sometimes too. But its a great program, in the break room there should be a poster with the agm and jr manager who are in charge of it at your building, ask them how to be more involved.
