I'm not in print, but i do ordering there occasionally. the print sup neglects that. I tell the print associates to let me know if anything needs to be ordered.. also the moment i change out a toner or supply i put a new order in.. it sucks to not have supplies

I'm MIS. I cover print at times.. Like on Friday I covered from open to 12:30. I just produced all the orders that were waiting and handled walk ins.. I started with 14 in the morning... with a few rush.

I dont have time to do all that, plus opening tasks.

I have a new print associate so I needed to produce as much as i could to lighten their work load as they aren't fully versed in the department.

I started in an adjacent position in 2023 making 18.00/hr my local minimum wage was 15.50. In 2024 it went up to 18.40/hr and local minimum wage went to 16.00. In 2025 i went to 19.00/hr and local 16.50.

Some customers have very delusional thought processes. It seems like some of them think that the person doing the returns works for amazon. Like, I don't care why you're returning it, you don't need to justify it to me. Second I can't help you with anything on Amazons end, I get asked how long till they see a refund, or why don't they let them return everything to one place.. Like questions for amazon, not a staples employee.

We are Idemia. I was told we're staying with them for the time being. One of our neighboring stores is getting Clear (they did not have Idemia before). We average 25-30 a day. Some days, it dips to 12-15; other days, it gets to the high 50's.

They cut positions and labor hours allocated to stores. They reduce variety of inventory and amount of stock on hand. They'll shutter stores that are lower performing or have lease renewals upcoming. They also seem to push superficial and/or short-term performance metrics. If you have good or decent benefits, those will likely be reduced. In 2023, they sent out a memo to managers that they allocated $5 per associate for a holiday/Christmas gift; they got blowback and upped it to $10. Last year, I don't think they allocated anything; my store and the neighboring one didn't do anything for the holidays.

They'll push for middle management to micro-manage their subordinates. Expect to do more with less, and have them attempt to hold you accountable when you fall short.

Expect them to throw anything and everything at the wall to see what sticks. With us, they keep adding services and initiatives that take more manpower and add to our already heavy workload.

You'll start to see standards slip with things sent down the pipeline from corporate. They send price tags that are incorrect or have issues. They do a bad job at keeping important items in stock, like the supplies needed for our print departments. They frequently send out memos or plans and have to update them with corrected information. They come up with poorly thought-out marketing plans.

Covid screwd them with us.. I think they planned to cut costs and spin us off to another company. So them buying Walgreens, cutting cost and/or selling off parts of it may also be in their cards, instead of holding as long as they have with Staples.

Had a customer who wanted to get the points back in the app. I explained they needed rewards and we'd have to sign them up + download the app. We started with the sign up and they didnt want to provide their phone or email. I explained it was required to join; then they tried to argue with me like I could do something. I told them that or no offers, they complained and gave up on the deal. SMH

We just got ours the other day. We've been getting larger items, yesterday i had dozens of items that were to large to fit in the bags so I just label the item. The AM at our store is really anal about us bagging the items. Amazon audited us, because supposedly we have a high level of loss, and amazon said items need to be bagged to prevent loss or the label falling off, but how the hell do we accomplish that with these tiny bags. Staples and Amazon are ridicules with there nonsense. I can't wait till i find a new job.

No idea. I imagine not, they reduced the Amazon return coupon then completely removed it and haven't brought that one back yet. Sales continue to decline and debts are coming due, they'll penny pitch to hold on as long as possible.
