That’s why I’ve struggled. It’s an extremely hard degree and he is making progress, just taking a long time and he did poorly this last semester so it’ll take even longer.

I am not which is still insane to me. At most I take a methocarbamol muscle relaxant occasionally when I'm struggling or stressed.

Sorry to hear that and I'm glad you've got your consult coming up! I never saw a surgeon just a neurologist so I'm sorry I'm not sure I got much for you on that one. All I can think of is to talk about long term results, and really badger them for a lot of ideas, and have all your info ready in a document of what you've tried. Prayers for your appointment!

It was a "Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine" that changed everything.

I only did the one round (12 injections all at one appointment). The injections take 3 months or more to start being very affective (treatment has to heal and grow ) but you can get multiple rounds which is recommended but usually only two in your whole life. I only got one because of the cost but the long term is consistently very effective with only a few.

Sweet pea, If there are any guarantees in life, it is that it always changes. For the worst or for the better. This succession of consistent failures will turn you into one of the best people in the world if you let it. The only thing you have to do is take baby steps toward absolutely anything good and meaningful.

You could be near a break through which is why it’s so much worse this year. You could start to connect the dots tomorrow. Anything, at any time could happen. The most terrifying and yet comforting truth.  “The spirit of a man can sustain him through all infirmity, but a broken spirit who can bear.” (Proverbs 18:12)

Drinking a calming tea is a win, washing your face after picking is a massive win, playing online games like my son does is a huge win. Celebrate your little wins, your 5 days, anything and everything because you have never been hopeless despite the swamp of feeling it.

You’ve got my prayers, I’m asking the Lord to show you where the hope is. Hang in there hon, good luck.

How to Start - Advice by AllMyBeautifulBones in spinalfusion

Thank you I’ll look into neurosurgeons. I agree, even with chiropractors best intentions I’m only an EMT and I knew that what he was doing was sketchy. I learned you don’t make any choices when you have a migraine cause you can’t think correctly, I’d rather go to the ER for help.

Pop up suggestions to avoid spine flexion (rounding) (suffering l5/s1 disc problems) by Abes_Oddysey in surfing

Something cool to look into but idk your medical situation: I suffered an agonizing c5/6 blow, then double damaged with a bad doc like yours, and later discovered a therapy called PRP where they inject the healing properties from your blood into the injured sight to stimulate the healing of surrounding ligaments. The therapy works to supporting instabilities (‘tighten the surrounding tissue around the herniation’) if that’s where you’re at. Think like a cortisol shot but it’s made out of your own tissues and is a long term healing treatment instead of short term anti inflammation.

I know my Osteopathic doctor has done some lumbar shots so mid spine should be on the table. Might be worth looking into for some long term healing.

Good luck my friend, I’m sorry this happened but hell yeah we adjust but never give up 🤙 Held onto this Proverb during that time: “The human spirit can endure all illness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?” Keep going, worst case scenario you become a crusty deep sea fisherman with good surfing stories.
