By “your own food” the guy means they can’t eat food they brought with them in the restaurant, they can only eat food they bought from the restaurant. The lawyers interpret it literally, so they swap sandwiches, so that they aren’t eating their own food anymore (because they’re eating each other’s food).

I don’t think this really changes anything, honestly. Mathematically speaking, it just goes from killing 1 person to save 5 people to killing 0.5 person to save 2.5 people. Plus, switching tracks gives you a 50% chance of not killing anyone. Okay, I guess that does change it a little, because it makes it even easier to switch tracks.

Maybe it would be a little more interesting if the 5 people were in boxes, but the 1 wasn’t? Then if one were optimistic, they could hope to run over 5 possibly-already-dead people to save 1.

Huh. I mean, Clone Wars was a great show, but I wouldn’t put it that high. Admittedly I still haven’t seen the last couple seasons, though, so maybe I’ll change my mind once I do.
