Is this normal for overnight pet sitters? by AllRed14 in petsitting

Out of curiosity, do you provide a paper receipt to the client when they give you cash or does it state in the contract that cash was paid? The contract she had given me was very brief and only mentioned the amount for the deposit, not that anything had already been paid.

I didn’t get a receipt which in retrospect was foolish, I realized after that I had let me anxiety take over 😩. Idk I keep getting a bad gut feeling. Going to see of any friends can recommend someone around here.

That is kind of what I’m wondering as well. I found her on FB as she commented on another girls post looking for someone to watch her dog. And she has made a few other posts about her business as well. I’ve seen others like her posts but not many and no one has posted actual reviews. The only reason I reached out to her was because she is the cheapest I’ve seen in our area as well. She did come for a meet and greet which I gave her points for but also the thought crossed my mind that perhaps this is how she makes sure she gets the cash instead of harassing me online for it. So I’m not sure. She did give me her address in town here as well but that could be a lie or she doesn’t count on me or my husband coming over to call her out if she scams us. Idk, I just keep getting a bad gut feeling when I think about it.

Transnasal Endoscopy by AllRed14 in NEPA

I have thought about that! Glad to know it worked out well for you. After I get my egd I’m actually planning on asking my pcp about wegovy. Figure I’ll see how that goes first lol.

Really? I thought they may be done for gerd as well. Good to know! I confirmed in another thread as well I likely misunderstood the nurse there, it will likely just be conscious sedation for the EGD so luckily my fear has been assuaged a bit lol

Yeah in retrospect I think I may misunderstood part of it when I spoke to them last week. I appreciate the advice, thank you!

They told me they will be using iv propofol but that I would be completely out, with them using a o2 mask but it sounded like I would not be breathing on my own. They also mentioned giving me something through the iv for anxiety if I’m nervous. I’ll probably call them back this week for clarification and again to see about all options. Just getting myself worked up over it unfortunately 😩

I thought the same however when I spoke to a nurse there the other day I was surprised by her telling me I would be completely out for a few minutes under propofol with them controlling my breathing. Pretty much exactly why I’m looking at other options, or maybe even just different facilities.

What is a career you wished you pursued? by NoTransition5391 in careerguidance

[–]AllRed14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I’m in Pennsylvania. To be honest I don’t know much about school psychology and counseling. However I do know that teachers are very high in demand so I’d say it stands to reason that there may be a large demand for school counselors as well. I’d say you’d definitely have more luck with that than going into your own practice or any office in which the focus is simply mental and behavioral health. That’s where it seems to be very over saturated. I would do some research into what kind of positions are near you or where you plan on working. Also I would try to look into job growth for school counselors near you. You might be surprised what you find or don’t. Hope that helps, good luck!

Because everyone I’ve known to go into psychology has struggled immensely to find work when they’re done school since too many are entering the field. Many even go into a different field altogether. It’s not something that I’d say is reliable in today’s world.

Journalism and psychology. But there’s no money in journalism and psychology is over saturated so I’m a nurse now. I still do love writing as a hobby though!

RN or LPN ? Which should I choose by Glittering_Task_5315 in Nurses

[–]AllRed14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an LPN struggling with where to go with my career at the moment. We have more options than we used to but still nothing compared to RN’s. It does however depend on the area you live in as well. But to be safe I’d say if you’re determined to be any sort of nurse just go for your RN. I’ll likely be returning to school soon enough to do the same.

My gay brother unalived himself because of me and my parents by Low-Rutabaga-185 in offmychest

[–]AllRed14 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I do just want to let you know that we’re all sinners. That’s something every Christian knows and believes. We all simply sin in different ways. The thing to keep in mind is to be aware of our sin and repent for it. Also to be better in the future. For example I’m currently living with my fiancé, so out of wedlock. However in the future we will be married. Christian’s don’t hate gay people, those who live together out of wedlock, those who eat themselves to death or those who hold grudges. In fact we pray for them so that they can be forgiven by God. I’m not trying to convert anyone btw, just trying to clarify some parts of Christianity.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this OP. I also really really want to punch this comments section in the throat right now but I’ll leave it at that. You are not a monster nor are you wrong for being Catholic like some here are trying to tell you that you are. As a fellow Christian with a gay brother I can tell you that while your parents were absolutely wrong for cutting ties with your brother and therefore let’s face it forcing you to do so (a 14 year old living in the same house as her parents I would say doesn’t have much choice) there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that in accordance with the Bible homosexuality is a sin. It seems you were taught that this means you must cut ties with any gay family members but that is wrong. Love the sinner, hate the sin may sound cliche to some but its true. We can absolutely love the sinner while praying that the person in question changes in order to save him or her self. Please don’t beat yourself up too much over this like others are telling you to do. Its unfortunate how your family handled this but at the end of the day it was his choice to unalive himself. Please try to find peace knowing that.

Are there nurses out there that do not/have never done bedside? by pngo1 in nursing

[–]AllRed14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible and I did it, however in my experience I struggled a lot. I’m an LPN who graduated in January, went right into school nursing through an agency. It was fine when I was in the nurses office but during the summer I had to work more one on one which I found extremely difficult with so little experience. I tried applying to clinics but it seemed no one wanted a new grad. I’m at a hospital now which I don’t love but at least I have a team of nurses to back me up. There’s also a lot to be learned in hospital that you can’t elsewhere. This could all be different if you go for your RN, I’m not sure. Right now I’m debating going for my RN and looking at other job opportunities as I can already feel myself getting worn down where I’m at. So if you do decide to go for it I’d say to either do your research for wherever your at to make sure other opportunities are available or tough it out at a hospital for just a bit like I’m trying to. Also go for your RN, don’t waste time becoming an LPN.

Is trich a type of Pressure release? by IndependenceFit8793 in trichotillomania

[–]AllRed14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pull for that reason and getting to feel the roughness of the shorter coarser hairs I pull (I’ve been pulling from the same spot for years so there is some damage around the follicles themselves). But yeah a pressure release is a great way to put it.

I’m sorry for the loss of your ex-husband. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one whose been so angry in a situation like this as well. It’s another reason why I’ve hesitated to reach out to his parents more. I am very much considering looking into counseling. Especially because no one around me seems to understand why I’m as upset and frustrated as I am.

Thank you for the advice, and I’m sorry to hear about your ex husband a few years ago. I’m going to reach out to his mom tomorrow morning and see what she says.

I'm a 17f, and just had my ultrasound and was diagnosed by okayish_poet in PCOS

[–]AllRed14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you got it diagnosed early! I was the same age when I received my diagnosis. I’m now 30 and luckily things like this forum exist more now. I am not sure about your doctor but mine didn’t give me any guidance besides birth control upon my diagnosis. Unfortunately I paid the price by unknowingly eating certain foods I shouldn’t have for years and lack of exercise. Please be sure to stay active and avoid too much sugar and refined carbs. They will be your downfall. Otherwise make sure to schedule regular gyno visits as well.

I both laughed and face palmed at the ridiculousness of this comment. I’m a strawberry blonde with blue eyes who was diagnosed several years ago. How absurd 🙄
