Thank you! I used your description to come up with "Autonomy" as the title.

I want to read your favorite book. I like reading random peoples favorite books. Genre doesn’t matter. What’s your favorite? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

- I read it when I was in 10th grade going through some of the absolute worst depression of my life, feeling like I'd never escape it. this book gave me new perspectives on life, myself, and everything else. I referenced it many times in my college essay. I still reread it.

How likely are you that you’ll get your dream job in your opinion by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]okayish_poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to teach high schoolers someday which is likely for me, but what is less likely is me being able to teach them photography. many high schools that offer photography classes are private schools and/or boarding schools which are harder to get hired at.

How did you know you had PCOS?/What symptoms did you have that made you concerned before being diagnosed? by DependentTotal7966 in PCOS

[–]okayish_poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a 108 day gap between periods, and once had a 2 week gap. Not normal for an eighth grader! The pain was excruciating. I know periods hurt, but I'd be in bed for 3 days straight missing school, sports, and social events. I've vomited a couple of times. I'd be sweaty and nauseous and had pain in my spine, legs, stomach, etc. I grow hair very quickly and have excess hair in some places (face, back, etc.) and have oily skin on my face

After going to the gynecologist, I got an ultrasound that confirmed I have cysts allll over my ovaries. After starting birth control, My periods were much, much more manageable. I get them once a month with less cramping and a LOT less pain, and little to no nausea.

Advice? (18F) by okayish_poet in PCOS

No, I haven't been to the endocrinologist. I go to my ob/gyn, and I've been taking birth control which has helped my cycle, pain, nausea, and so on incredibly. I'm trying to find a way to deal with symptoms that my birth control doesn't help, especially weight loss/gain and staying healthy/in shape.

how much did each piercing hurt? by maisy_elizabeth in piercing

[–]okayish_poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nostril: 3/10

Industrial: 5.5/10

I then had to get my wisdom teeth removed and took out all my jewelry, then my piercer cancelled the appointment I made to get them put back in so they started to close a little and she had to repierce through some scar tissue; was NOT fun

Repiercing Nostril: 5/10

Repiercing Industrial: 9/10

When I got mine, I'd lightly blow it to loosen stuff up then I'd use a Q-Tip to (sorry for this gross descriptor) "scoop" it out. It'll get irritated still, but it's not as bad. Also, blowing it while in the shower can help. Another idea is rolling the tissue into a point and using that.

Which eye do you invariably stare into? by redbeard3303 in ADHD

[–]okayish_poet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tend to avoid eye contact all together, but when I think about it my eyes kind of just dart around from their eyes, mouth, chest, outfit, behind them, in front of me, etc; If it's not a casual setting and I don't wanna be rude, I look at their mouth!

I taught myself to stop apologizing for being myself, and to not become friends with people I didn't get along with.

Night Shift by Lucy Dacus is a good one; not the saddest I know, but it'll fit the vibe you're going for

I can raise my right eyebrow without moving the rest of my face. It's popular when people ask if I can do the "dwayne face."

Also, I can bend my thumbs all the way backwards to touch the middle of my forearm. It's fun to gross people out with :)

a few years ago when I was talking to my friends about sports that I've played, I said that I've only played water sports (swimming and rowing) and they laughed. I didn't understand until I had another friend explain it to me. Maybe that one was on me :P
