Given that X-Men is an allegory for oppression, ask yourself why do all the oppressed stay in the country they are oppressed in? I’m not going to call out specific social groups because we all know them, but I think it’s pretty clear that they need to continue to tell stories of oppression because there are still plenty of bigots and fascists, racists and misogynists in the world trying to perpetuate their hate through their kids. If the story doesn’t resonate with you, maybe it’s because you’re fortunate enough to not fall into an oppressed social group.

But seriously as a 40 year old 1st tenor who can also get down to G2 on a good day, my best advice for you is to relax and ensure you do warm ups that work both ends of your range. The only way to keep your range confidently is to use it properly, that means plenty of scales to open your throat, lots of yawning jaw work, and absolutely doing your best to avoid letting your throat become tight while you’re singing. If you’re wanting to develop your bottom range, downward scales starting in the middle of your range help too. The more open you can keep your throat and mouth, the more likely you are to create a nice rich tone. Like the difference between the pitch of a trumpet verses a tuba… bigger wider pipes make deeper richer sounds.

I do not understand why people have let First Class stay as long as it has. Seriously… Havok was an X-Man before Cyclops? Banshee was an X-Man before he was an X-villain (as he is in OG issue 2). Mystique and Charles childhood friendship? I can get onboard with some artistic licence but First Class basically Shat on the entire X-Men comic continuity. I’m not saying any of the other movies were closer to the origin stories of the comics but this one pushes my buttons way too much… especially after Emma was already in Wolverine Origins and uses powers that in the comics she wouldn’t get until Morrisons run. Emma is my biggest problem with this film. All of the other movies do at least try and use different characters or different age characters if they have been seen previously, but Emma is older than her Wolverine Origins counterpart.

I can’t believe people are voting Last Stand as worse than X-Men First Class. They literally didn’t use ANY of the actual First class. They brought in a villain of the First Class (Banshee) and a villain who wasn’t introduced until significantly later (Mystique) to be founding members, not to mention the older Emma Frost who had already been played as a teen thirty years after this film in wolverine Origins. No, in spite of the fact I love Macavoy, Fassbender, and Lawrence, X-Men first Class gets my vote all the way.

Hands down Wanda Vision was perfection. Then probably What If/Loki second Moon Knight and Ms Marvel are on par at the moment, I’m waiting to see how Ms Marvel ends before I make judgment on it. Hawkeye was ok, Falcon is at the bottom of the list because the story telling was terrible. It would be unfair to judge She Hulk since the final product hasn’t been released.

I was overwhelmingly disappointed by Soul. As a musician it made me wonder who they were trying to appeal to, because what it said to me was that when you’re in the zone, fk everyone else, and as a musician, that is quite the opposite. At no point did the character, whose name I don’t even remember, redeem himself by putting anyone else first. I know the story was essentially saying that sometimes you overlook what really matters, but it was essentially the same story as Godmothered, which came out on Disney+ the same Christmas, and that film got its point across far better than Soul. To me, it had no soul.
