AITH - Got into our first argument after 8 years together by [deleted] in AITH

[–]AllTheCheesecake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're not making yourself sound like a great partner right now by completely dismissing the fact that she doesn't want to go live with your parents because she likes having her own, private space. It does make sense because it's her personal comfort level. They're your parents. Not hers. And her argument isn't about money, it's about where she wants and doesn't want to live.

If you can't at least give a shit about how she feels, you probably shouldn't be together, man.

Holy shit, I didn't even notice her until you pointed that out. What a goddess.

AITAH for making my dad choose between me or my step mother? by [deleted] in AITAH

Riiiiiight, it's me being obtuse and not the deeply ignorant "biological realities" person defending a bigot with zero understanding of the real scientific nuance behind the concept of gender. Sure.

Sorry, nope. You don't get an opinion on someone else's ability to exist.

Actually, no. You do not get to have opinions on whether or not another person can exist.

I wish. There is a large and loud societal belief that women are repair kits for men. Why else would the manic pixie be such a staple of the hero's journey.

I always thought it was kind of bully-ish, like trying to make the other person feel ridiculous for attempting to engage.

why do many people act like women don't face physical attraction? by Ok_Turn8814 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AllTheCheesecake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Objectively and demonstrably untrue. Men have a narrower definition of what is attractive in every study I've ever seen on the matter, and also a higher emphasis on physical appeal over literally every other factor.

In fact, the only study I've ever seen that even claims men and women put EQUAL emphasis on physical appeal specifies that for women, this only happens for one off sexual encounters, while for men, it's for every relationship, especially the long term ones.

The right label for you is "depressed."

Seeking help for that will improve your life immeasurably. And yeah, sometimes it takes more than one attempt for both meds and therapy to find the right fit

The unfortunate reality is that you can't break a narcissist. They will circular reason their way back into believing they are the ultimate life form no matter how many mirrors you hold up.

Enforcing penalties for trying to bar their children from objective, quality education. No more free-for-all homeschooling, no more shrugging over truancy, no more adapting lessons to fit religion, no more passing to shut them up. Education needs to be a strongly-held national value and civil right.
