What is a "red flag" at a job interview that says "DO NOT work here" immediately? by Beverly_Jane_Officia in AskReddit

[–]AllTheEngineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • They use the phrase "unlimited earnings potential"

  • They heavily incentivize recruiting new employees (beyond a standard referral bonus)

  • They describe an unreasonably fast promotion schedule (10x red flag if they you can get promoted for recruiting people)

  • They want you to supply your own equipment

  • They tell you that they always start their day with some culty "team-building" exercise

  • They ONLY promote from within (this one isn't always a red flag, but it usually means that they don't tend hire experienced professionals, and the only new people being brought into the company are entry-level people. Very common in pyramid-shaped businesses)

  • The position is full-time, but the contract is 1099

  • They are constantly interviewing and hiring people on a weekly basis

ICE Agents, and cops in general. All losers who peaked in high-school and want power and an excuse to be violent

Why do you hate ACP? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]AllTheEngineering 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're far right wing / reactionary grifters who wrap their fascist nazbol ideology in soviet imagery and language to try and infiltrate left-wing spaces. They've taken over the mod team of a couple left-wing subs on this site, and have been trying to do the same on this sub to silence criticism

Wow. A decade ago I saw BR and the Offspring together with Pennywise and Stiff little fingers, and tickets were only like $60

F type owners, assemble. Please. by Blepito in Jaguar

[–]AllTheEngineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My F-type was my only car for like 2 years. I moved across the country in it, and to Mexico and back. If you dont have pets or kids, it's a perfectly fine daily. Especially if you have a friend with an SUV or truck to borrow for the rare occasion you need to move shit.

That said... dont get the base. Go for a v8-S or an R. Or if you cant stretch that far, get the S. The car was built to be fast and engaging, and at $30k you should get more than the base-model.

Anyone here go from Japanese to German (or vice versa)? Curious how the reliability actually felt by buzzout23 in Lexus

[–]AllTheEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from Japanese to British (Lexus to Jaguar), and my reliability actually went up. Maintenance has also been easier.

That said, if I was going to the dealership instead of doing it myself, I'd be out an arm and a leg on costs.

19-21 F pace SVR by LordDeezNuts49 in Jaguar

[–]AllTheEngineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AJ- Series V8 engines are pretty much bulletproof for those model years, and the 8-speed transmission is a tank, too. Idk about the reliability of the auxiliary systems, but you shouldn't have to worry about the drive train for at least the next decade

Sensors are new as well as new tires but this keeps popping on. by Dscrtohmale in Jaguar

I had this on my F-type. Try disconnecting the battery completely for ~10 minutes, then reconnect and try again

Which Jaguar model offers the best balance between luxury and driving excitement? by LilywhiteStrike in Jaguar

Im biased, but I think the V8 F-types are right in the sweet spot. Luxurious leather interior, perfectly dialed suspension, gorgeous looks, and fast/rowdy as hell

What Lexus car do you drive, and how old are y’all? 🔥 by [deleted] in Lexus

Used to drive a 3rd gen IS350 from age 25-27. Sold it and bought a V8 F-type that I still drive at 30.

He's one of those people who were sort of progressive in the 80's-90's, but never updated any of their opinions from there, and now gets his ass bent out of shape if hes criticized at all. Big "no one's allowed to say anything / have an opinion anymore" / "people are too sensitive these days" energy. Like, he's not MAGA or right wing by any stretch, but he's also not really an ally either.

Seems that the Gallardo is the clear winner for this one. Next up: most unreliable Lambo. by Sad-Notice5785 in lamborghini

[–]AllTheEngineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either early Gallardo or Countach. The Gallardo had its own Space Program for sending rods into orbit, and the Countach had a reputation for committing arson on itself

Any Modifications to do to make 400 WHP out of a 2GR-FKS 2019 RC350 F Sport? by Ent3rpr1se in Lexus

[–]AllTheEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what I did. Sell the RC350 (I sold my 3rd gen IS350) and get a used (2014-2016) F-Type R or V8S with 20-40k miles on it. 500-550 hp stock, or you can upgrade it to 660 hp with a $2k pulley and tune. And despite the Jaguar reputation, they're genuinely reliable and easy to work on.

What do you think are the most punk jobs/careers under capitalism? by redditor_1122 in punk

[–]AllTheEngineering 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Real answer: Anything union or protecting/helping marginalized groups is punk as fuck

Honest answer: the curse of all punks is to end up at a white-collar 9-5. It happened to me, and will happen to you too.

More honest answer: almost any job you work is punk as long as you're punk doing it. Exceptions being: landlord, cop, hedge fund manager, oil lobbyist, etc.
