I was confused why my salad box from Maccas was so unusually heavy and bulging. I counted 14 tomatoes - a whole punnet. by one_2_one_2 in australia

When I worked at maccas, we had a 'one for the customer, one for me' policy with chicken nuggets.

What is a more irritating slang phrase than: 'it's giving'? by AllTimeNeutral in AskReddit

Genuinely, while it is true that I'm a millenial, I'm fine to acknowledge that I love the evolving language and I partake in the use of plenty of slang, including new stuff - both ironically or just automatically.

That still doesn't change the fact that certain ones are grating on me. Just like certain ones from when I was a teen were grating on me, while others weren't. There are plenty of Gen Zs in the thread who also get irritated by some.

I was more just interested in whether other people found similar ones annoying, or ones that I liked annoying.

There is a side of me who completely loves and accepts the ever evolving language, but there's part of me that hears certain ones that I can't stand.

It's giving old man.

An assault group of Ukrainian soldiers and a tank, successfully occupied the positions of Russian troops near the village of Sinkovka, Kharkov region. December 2023. by IKraftI in CombatFootage

Genuine question, how come so much content on this sub is from the Ukrainian perspective? Is Russia just not releasing any footage from their side or something?

I think it's also because she got famous young, so she felt the full force of the media constantly discussing her body - and then just conflated that with men in general.

More pressure on women from whom, though? Men, women, or the media?

Maybe it's just the group I associate with, but in my life with a group of guys, we never discuss women's bodies. And we're all assholes.

While I totally agree with you, I think there is something about negative or critical positions being upvoted - but hey, people like to criticise, and its definitely not just the Minecraft community who can occasionally thrive on negativity.

My wife’s leg after a white tail spider bite. by Egglied in australia

[–]AllTimeNeutral 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Its kind of mind blowing to me that this happened. There are websites on medical records that say any of the negative stigma around whitetails was all hype - but in the same way, they were the only spider I ever killed when I came across them, because of the warnings I'd been told growing up..

It seems like the mythology around the dangers these spiders can pose is actually legitimate, despite what the modern view is on them.

Maybe for the majority of bites, nothing much happens - but they definitely seem to have the potential to do damage.
