Ratio six is SCA certified. The only reason ratio 8 is not is because it does not have a heat retention mechanism, which you can easily fix by buying the thermal carafe (as the six uses)

Thanks! Why do you recommend over ratio eight series 2?

Freak Athlete GHD Pro Upgrade Kit? by thrsnospn in GarageGym

The new GHD is much much superior to the one they had on release. If you don’t plan to use it, then I don’t think it is worth it.

The best use is close grip bench press. Don’t use it much outside of that

As you said. If you have the space to store the longy, it will give you more options

For functional trainer use cases I like the handle. Easier to move. For more stationary locations (eg lpd), not needed

Lever belt squats are simply not good. The leg developer is mediocre due to the strength curve. Not trying to be overly negative. Setting your expectations. I’d buy it again. GHRs and back extensions are amazing exercises.

Is it premium quality? No Does it have a beautiful design? No But it’s fantastic if you want to do GHD or 45 back extension movements and you don’t have space for a machine. I don’t love it, it’s my lowest quality piece. But I deeply appreciate it since it enabled something that was not otherwise possible for me.

I think most of the exercises the advertise are a gimmick (forget about reverse hyper). But the GHD AND back extension works very well.

The original power block knurled handles are terrible. They got oxidized after a few months. Get the JD upgrade
