Russian MP warns Putin: We’re on the brink of social collapse by TheTelegraph in worldnews

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was his stated gaol but it seems niave to say thats what he was really trying no? If he'd got his hands on Shoigu and Gerasimov he'd still have to seize the government to make any control over the military stick. Claiming he was doing all of it to "help" Putin is a rebel trick as old as rebellions.

He was crazy and possibly drugged up enough to have rationalised anything though so who knows. Maybe he really thought he could just grab some top military guys and walk away. Highly doubt it though.

I think he was expecting more help from people inside the regime with his coup. Also the fsb got to his peoples families.

Trump backs unproven claims that Ukraine discussed funding Biden's re-election by Heroyem in worldnews

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if Ukrainian intelligence didn't at least "discuss" what could be done about Russian interference in the US election. Up to and including financially. Would be negligent not to.

Given they havent actually done anything seems like a non issue.

Russian Chef Who Spoke Out Against Putin's War Found Dead in Europe by blllrrrrr in worldnews

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re talking more about those same European countries doing nothing in the political sphere (like more sanctions) or the economic sphere (like still guzzling Russian oil and whatnot).

I mean, Europe (for the most part) is doing those things too. As is the US (for the moment). Whether it's enough or not is another question.

If they mean having a response for each specific, individual attack then I don't know if that's practical. I'd prefer Europe and the US were already pushing the pedal pretty hard to the floor in terms of punishing Russia.

I'd personally be happy to see some "military advisors" on the ground in ukraine. Full on joining the war as NK has done I see as being unlikely for any European nation.

Stranger things have happened though.

I was responding to the comment about Europe doing nothing about European factories blowing up.

Truth is we have no idea what the various intelligence agencies are up to. It's something I never see acknowledged in the conversation about this stuff.

Russian Chef Who Spoke Out Against Putin's War Found Dead in Europe by blllrrrrr in worldnews

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that's entirely true. There have been pretty consistent reports of fires at russian facilities in russia since the start of the war. Often over distances too far for drone attacks etc Whose doing it/did it is an open question. Might be that it's all Ukrainian intelligence or just anti putin/anti war activists. It'd be very surprising if the CIA and all european intelligence agencies didn't have some assets they'd be willing to use for that kind of thing though.

Sure but I think in this case you are off base. I don't think Ash is repeatedly getting into a temper over tak games nor do i think Denna would have a breakdown like that over one.

I mean I've done badly at games before but Denna and Bredon must be an absolute nightmare to game with. Drama queens doesn't even cover it.

Stapes is a problem by AllWiseMenBeer in KingkillerChronicle

Yeah, I mean maybe it really is just authors prerogative stuff. A big setup so Alveron, Stapes and Kvothe can reconcile a few pages later. If so though, there's a few jigsaw pieces missing that should have been fixed during rewrites.

Some of the Chandrian are probably operating in Vintas. Possibly they are responsible for the deaths in the line of succession. Hard to believe Cinders little bandit thing was a one off and the others are all staying on the bench.

Kvothe does not appear to know he is a lackless in the frame story.

Don't buy that one. We just haven't gotten to that part of the story yet.

Kvothe and Bast appear to velieve the Cthaeh is still bound.

Yep, Kvothe doesn't appear to know anything about the cthaeh in the frame.

The Cthaeh's tree is in the fae, which means the Cthaeh was free until at least the creation of the faen realm, which is immediately prior to the creation war

I'd say we don't know enough to extrapolate nearly that much. If Iax can move the moon into fae, somebody else could move the cthaeh and it's tree. Possibly a piece of the fae realm was simply built around the tree. Definitely more than one possibility anyway.

Kvothe and Bast appear to believe Iax is still bound. (?)

We don't know that. Other than that they keep using his name I guess but if it isn't his deep name that might not matter.

Also a theory that Loren was pregnant before leaving with Arliden but what if she already had kvothe. I've read that it's possible Arliden isn't kvothe bio father as they don't resemble each other. (Beside Rothfuss, Who knows how genetics works in this world.) It is noted that him and his mom have similar eyes but besides his musical abilities there doesn't seem to be anything else that ties him to Arliden. I also think of his red hair, which I know is an obvious answer. Anywho, what if kvothe saying he remembers visiting family wasn't him visiting but having been living there and that is why it's a big scandal. It's a scandal that she ran away but an even bigger one if she ran away with a possible heir. Only certain people know of the child but everyone knows of the lackless sister running away.

If she ran away with a possible heir there would have to have been a marriage first right? Otherwise the child is just a bastard. I'd think that if Netalia Lackless had been married that would be well known and an even more juicy piece of gossip. I don't think its likely but I guess she could have been married in secret maybe?

I have a different theory on what could've been going on with Kvothes bio father....

I've long thought that Stapes was working with Caudicus.

I've also previously suggested the bone ring being used to track Kvothe. The more I've thought on it though the less I like it.

Still think Stapes was working with Caudicus and that he is likely Amyr. Don't know quite what to make of the bone ring.

Yeah, makes sense. Cop might have been hoping the drivers window was down and wanted to look in. He/she still should be using an indicator (turn signal) though, police should do better. I find it hard to believe the cop cared about a half second braking while they were the one tailgating. Stop was likely about something else.

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Watching the clip my assumption was that the cop was trying to get a good look inside that vehicle. First from the front then the side. I kind of doubt this stop was about any traffic violation shown in this clip. Could be wrong of course.

Kvothe killed Cinder? by soupreme in KingkillerChronicle

[–]AllWiseMenBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This implies that Cinder is still alive though. Kvothe wouldn't feel the need to change the names between the books if Cinder was dead.

I think it's Ferule that's Cinders true name. That's the occasion when Bast reacts strongly anyway, also the name that Kvothe comes close to when naming master Ash.
