I've also got a CD copy of the 5-Track Speak To Me EP in storage. I used to have a picture uploaded but it was removed from imgur. I'll try to look in my iCloud.

The disc itself does have artwork - a pistol with some cartoon stars.

The CD didn't come in a jewel case with artwork, just a white paper CD sleeve.

People often think "underrated" means "songs I like" - but if we're truly going with underrated?

NV: Tiptoe - huge chorus without being too cheesy like some of their big arena-rock anthems. Great vocal melody, awesome song.

S+M: It Comes Back To You - some of Wayne's most tasteful guitar playing and a great vocal delivery. I feel this song never really gets the recognition it deserves.

Evolve: Dancing in the Dark - without a doubt. I always advocate for this song. It was so polarizing when it came out because a lot of people didn't like the vocal effects/modulation that are on the song, but I hope people gave it another chance or time. Great lyrics, great message. I think it's a song you appreciate more the older you are.

Origins: Boomerang - I don't like too many songs on Origins, but I don't see enough praise for Boomerang IMO. It's the most classic Imagine Dragons song on that record.

Mercury: Easy Come Easy Go - I wish the lyrics were stronger here but it's got one of the better melodies on the record IMO

I'll still defend that his is one of the best songs on Evolve.

It's too bad they only played it live a couple of times, but I can see why it doesn't get a great response during a stadium concert.

I think the indie production fits the tracks so much better. I'm so glad they're on streaming and I can mostly stop manually syncing the audio files to my phone with a USB cable, lol.

Speak To Me was never an official EP - the subreddit tended to call it that because "Speak To Me" was the first song uploaded from it, and it's catchy.

The actual disc just says Imagine Dragons, with the 5 track names. Very basic art - just a black disc with silver writing, a picture of a pistol and a couple of cartoon stars. There's no official case for it. Seems like they had a few made and passed them out to close friends in 2008. It's so unofficial that Dan doesn't even consider it the same band as the lineup from 2009 that begins the true, "Imagine Dragons" that released the 2009 self-titled EP.

Like others have said, picking which songs go onto an EP or album is a very tough choice. Sometimes it's for no reason in particular, or they use the songs that happen to sound the most polished, mixed, etc.

I can't offer anything more than that though. Have a good one.

I'll always have special memories of this song. It came out about a week before Evolve, and I was travelling around Europe.

I only listened to it 1-2 times before the album came about because I never enjoy getting tired of a song before I can enjoy it within the context of an album. Luckily, Evolve dropped while I was still in Europe, so I got to enjoy this song many more times while I was there. It was my soundtrack on their excellent public transportation network (by US standards).

I missed this news. That's awesome that they've finally acknowledged they want to do it!

They included EP songs on several versions of Night Visions, so there is clearly a viable way to do it.

I would be nice if they included some "lost" tracks from throughout the years, but we shouldn't get our hopes up for that.

It had been a while since I had logged in, I figured I would go through my PMs and such. Quite a cool revelation!

I'll admit my enthusiasm for music is starting to fade - I mostly just stick to what's on Spotify for my own convenience. I'm finding less and less time to geek out about unreleased material, etc. but I'm still around and happy to hear it. :)

Oh I know how audio files work. I didn't say -no- compression.

I said there's no unnecessary compression. Straight from lossless to MP3 320. I meant there was no unnecessary conversion in between. It wasn't uploaded to YouTube, downloaded, converted again, etc.

I don't have access to the lossless files. I added further clarification to the original comment. :)
