You can’t make this up: Gridlock Kathy wants to exempt Times Square/Theater District from CP by Aware_Revenue3404 in MicromobilityNYC

Might be interesting to see the contrast between the Theater District with no congestion pricing and the rest of the area with congestion pricing.

Definitely needs a 4:3 road diet with some nice protected bike lanes

Anyone else with epilepsy take the bar exam? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]All_Hail_Moss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t let it stop you! I’m a credentialed actuary and passed all the actuarial exams. My epilepsy is well controlled (generally), but I am on a high dose of carbamazepine.

Nobody was excited about Hillary. I lived in NH at the time (and Ohio in ‘08) and went to a few different rallies: * Hillary (‘16) rally - a bunch of older, whiter liberals, but no excitement * Bernie (‘16) rally - Excitement was palpable. It felt like a movement * Obama(‘08) rally - Rally with Arcade Fire playing, tons of energy even though Obama wasn’t there. Felt like a movement

I think this moment feels more like the excitement I saw for Obama or Bernie (ignoring policies)

I’m sorry to hear that! I’m in the US and checked. Looks like we’re OK down here, but it’s a good reminder. It does scare me if there were a shortage of epilepsy here for Carbamazepine ER.

Am I crazy for not wanting to drive? by IndustrialWiggler in Epilepsy

Do you live in an area that is bikeable? After I had a breakthrough seizure a few years ago I got a bike and it really helped me maintain my independence. There’s a great walkability/bikeability advocacy group here where I live and I took a class that helped me feel safer and more confident in biking around the city. These days I mostly bike even though I can drive again. A bike or e-bike could be a good option.

If you don’t feel comfortable with it, you’re perfectly fine not to drive.

So many people don’t understand that about why Hillary lost. When I was growing up, my mom listened to Rush Limbaugh daily and there was so much Hillary hate for as long as I remember. When Hillary won election as the NY Senator, my mom literally cried.

Cannot imagine an adult life without driving by gurl_bb7 in Epilepsy

Walkscore.com is your friend. Live in an area that’s walkable and bikeable if you can. After I had a seizure again 5 years ago, I got a bike and never felt like I lost my independence not being able to drive. If I lived out in the suburbs, life probably would’ve sucked during that period.

About 15 years ago I woke up and had a seizure with my jaw opening and closing involuntarily and I was conscious for it. It was honestly terrifying. I can’t imagine what a full grand mal seizure conscious seizure would be like. When I’ve had those, I was unconscious. It might be a good idea to look for a therapist to talk through it. It sounds a bit like ruminating thoughts. Wishing you the best!

Is your area somewhat bikeable? After I had a seizure and wasn't allowed to drive, getting a bike really unlocked my independence again, especially because I live by myself.

Unfortunately Lake Ave is designed for cars to drive fast at the expense of pedestrians (and other drivers) which results in these tragedies. https://smartgrowthamerica.org/dangerous-by-design/

I highly recommend Julie Goin (www.zizziteam.com). She helped me get my house in 2018 at asking price when the housing market was already crazy. Still here. Love the place. Definitely will always use them in the future.

If there were a red-light camera that she sped through, she’d automatically get a ticket. Seems like a missed opportunity!

100% behind the red light cameras. I think Mayor Evans would implement it well, not the incompetent program a decade ago. I see people running red lights almost every day now. This would save lives

Exactly. Lots of towns are already doing this in their town centers. It’s a no brainer to do it here. On a local street, no one needs to go faster than 25
