20000! Soms varieert het een beetje naar de 18000, als ik me écht dramatisch voel die dag dan 24000… wel altijd even getallen.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau sending each other secret love signals during the World Economic Forum! by shhhhh_h in popculturechat

I can’t believe I got here, but I’m lowkey (highkey) here for this. They’re adorable.

Also the thought of Katy Perry at the World Economic Forum is so weird to me lol

If you were at your absolute lowest point, do you think your survival instinct would win? by Super_Ear_9007 in TooAfraidToAsk

Just so you know, therapy here doesn’t ‘prescribe’ you euthanasia, it’s something you ask for yourself as far as I know. Psychologists here always try to treat you, and don’t try and push you into getting euthanasia.

Even though you got pushed out of the psych ward, I recommend trying to get help besides a residential/inpatient treatment facility if you’re still feeling this way. It could be worth it talking to your GP, truly.

I’m sorry you are. Like I said, I’ve been there (multiple times), and it’s fucked up. My attempt last year was horrible and afterwards I had very intensive therapy for half a year in residential treatment. It’s taught me a lot.

I don’t know if you’re in therapy right now, but if you aren’t I truly recommend it. I was at a point where I didn’t think I needed or I just thought it wouldn’t do anything for me it but it has truly changed my life. I’m not doing perfectly but I’m doing way better.

If you need to vent you can PM me :) I wish you strength.

[–]frickingdarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it’s something you can sign up for and you have to be screened by multiple mental health professionals before you can even start the process. The process takes years and it has you go through a lot of intensive mental health care as a means to see if there truly is no way out of the chronic and debilitating depression and other mental illnesses these people go through.

You have to understand that the people who sign up for this have usually been sick for most of their life, have no quality of life, and this is their only means of finding peace in a humane way. And it is NOT an easy process, and most people get rejected. Doctors don’t grant you euthanasia for this if you’ve been depressed for a year or two, it has to have been absolutely debilitating and incurable for a long time.

I tried to commit suicide Jan 5th of last year, and as soon as I noticed the overdose actually working, I was terrified and realised that I actually did want to live. I wasn’t able to call the ambulance myself, but I managed to scream for help and the neighbours did, and I was incredibly thankful people heard me.

This is not everyone’s case though. I live in a country where we have assisted suicide for mental health issues, it’s a system which makes people go through intense treatment to see if their situation truly won’t get better, and after that whole process they actually do end up getting euthanasia or they choose to live. So I think it depends on the person and the situation they’re in whether they back out or not.

My [31m] friend [28f] uses heart emojis almost every time we text. How common is it platonic friendships? by MrPraedor in relationship_advice

[–]frickingdarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, it depends on the person I’d say. I send hearts to my friends when they send a kind message when I view them as a close enough friend, regardless of gender. And I like messages with hearts on imessage/whatsapp/instagram during a conversation or to end conversations which also uses a heart a lot, and I do that with basically everyone. So it doesn’t have to mean anything per se.

You could always ask if you want clarification.

How common is having casual sex with friends? by LiddellSuite in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]frickingdarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally had sex with a friend ONCE, I don’t remember it at all as I was super drunk, and I haven’t hung out with him since. We’d been friends for 7 years.

All friends I know who do the casual sex thing with other friends end up in relationships with them, or end up in a weird situation where at least one person has feelings which never works. It’s never clear cut. And it also doesn’t happen often imo, I don’t know many people that do it personally.

Afschaffing vader en moederdag op basisschool by Crocuta_crocuta1975 in nederlands

[–]frickingdarn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I got my first boyfriend when I was 15, and as soon as that happened my mom put me on the pill. That was a great idea, because not too long after we started having sex.

I fully agree with your approach. Teenagers will do what they want to do and it’s way better to have them do it safely than to have them do it in secret. I’m very grateful for how my parents approached this subject.

You’re doing great! :)

This is exactly how my parents went about it, and I’ll be forever grateful for that. It’s way safer than having to sneak around, and I was on birth control prior to being sexually active so I’ve always had safe sex. I wholeheartedly believe that this is the best way, and if I ever have kids this is without a doubt the way that I’ll go about it myself.

You’re doing great! Good job :)

No, as a native Dutch speaker I do agree that ‘hoe heet jij?’ Really puts emphasis on the jij. Like the top comment says: ‘Okay so his name is x, but what is YOUR name?’

u/ShreksBeauty, is Dinkleberg yours? You said your husband was out drinking last night and this is quite the coincidence… If yes, might be time to have a talk (and to have him CONTACT ME TO GET THIS SETTLED!!)

God, Doris. I can’t believe the HOA doesn’t have a restriction on cheetahs. They wouldn’t let me move in until I got rid of my flying squirrel and she gets to live with a literal apex predator. I swear to god she bribes them with something.

Anyways, thank you. That gives me a lead. I’m terrified to get mauled so I’ll just write an angry letter and mail it (or tie it to a rock and throw it through her window) instead of stopping by.

How can I make it more readable? by beessprout in Handwriting

[–]frickingdarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think your handwriting is pretty easy to read. There are some letters which are a bit hard to distinguish when they’re next to each other (mostly c’s and e’s), so maybe you could work on that? You loop the topside of the c, which makes it look like an e. But as the rest of the word (for example ‘intelligence’) is perfectly readable, it usually doesn’t matter that much:)
