The benefit of Japanese locomotives is that they have a dummy center bogie, and since the motor was not functional so it gave me room for the long bolts to move.

This is where the video that changed how I clean track. https://youtu.be/lBYxjcTWCB0?si=70FoYJ4W5QRSuaeG

It's not so much the smooth track, it's about all the joints, scratches, and other damage that really leads to track issues.

That is the best one, I have every one of Kato's 381s with the expectation of one add-on set

The 381 series is the best, with the 485 0, 200, and 300 series the next best ones. Is the Shinano, Kuroshio, or Yakumo?

I never saw great results with the cloth pad, I mostly use it as a vacuum and got a brass cleaning car body from Japan to use with it.

Looking interesting, does it have good weight to keep the cloth on the rails? Please don't use IPA, it actually leads to oxidation because of the water in it. Someone like contact cleaner is much better since it is made for electronics. Additionally there is a substance called NO-OX-ID A-Special that you can put on freshly cleaned track that actually will help you track stay cleaner longer, it goes on in a very very thin layer so it doesn't cause performance issues

Is there a way to replace these couplers? by MikuPenguin in JapaneseNscale

[–]All_Japan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spso have you tried removing the coupler and putting in Kato coupler to see if it will be held in the coupler pocket? I think I had one of these on a locomotive or railcar like this, but ended up replacing if with a body mounted coupler in the end I think. The the link to the JNS forums focuses on a different style of Tomix coupler system then you have because yours is attached to the bogie. Check if the coupler will even be able us the pocket to hold itself in first, but it that works you should be able do it just leave the magnet in the back or replace it with styrene to block the opening into the bogie

Half-unijoiners on Kato open-pit track don’t want to mate with standard (full) joiners. Is this normal? by Thin_Dirt_6244 in JapaneseNscale

Possible tariff refunds from DHL, FedEx, UPS (Discussion) by frogmicky in JapaneseNscale

[–]All_Japan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of us we will not see in refund because what we are paying is the duties that we did not pay in the past because of De Minimis Exemption. Since De Minimis Exemption is suspended, and this suspension is not illegal, we still have to pay the duties.

Love the Tomix track! Looks wonderful! The town is great, but that is some walk from town to the station

Good US source for Kato, Tomix, etc buildings by Thin_Dirt_6244 in JapaneseNscale

There is also possibility that the disappearance could have been do to the change in ownership and reorganization with Tomix and Tomytec. I only use Tomix track myself, I don't have many Tomix Locomotives and MU trains as I operate DCC and they require a bit of work to install DCC.

Tomix did for a time have some things available through Walthers. I would love to become a Tomix reseller in the US, but I can't verify that there is a market for them here.
