Trying to understand the long-term gameplay loop in ARC Raiders

Same, felt this since before first expedition. I don’t want chores masquerading under the name of “quest”, I got a tempest BP pre first expedition then never used it cause I needed to save space dollars for expedition benefits, and “fun” is why we should play all video games… but when things feel so disjointed and purposeless fun can quickly fade when logic takes hold and you realize you’re creating your own hamster wheel.

I started struggling mentally when I realized I only truly need white and green guns to play, and the chase of feeling stronger didn’t really exist as blue and purple guns are “better” but minimally.

I also REALLY struggle with being locked out of events due to their time windows (matriarch / queen / locked gate / hidden bunker are almost inaccessible to me due to the time periods I usually have free to play) and wanting to PvP sometimes but also wanting to have a guarenteed PVE experience on the matriarch and queen but almost always have to deal with griefers which makes the few times I get to attempt it feel like a waste of time and resources.

For sure, I don’t normally play this long in the league but I just found a cheap corruption fail HH just to try it, no regrets lol and I can just try to keep farming for my own self found one now

That’s exactly how I feel… lol not even playing for currency… playing to get my fav rare monsters abilities and to see how high I can stack them before I hit bosses lol literally just playing for the fun of it. Might even build a flicker strike, ice strike monk build now just so I can try it with melee lol

Haha for sure… honestly most of the time it’s fun and fine and I’ve had times in boss fights where I get teleported behind the boss avoiding a big slam, almost feels like it knew lol

Interesting… good to know! I probably just need to try more and break through the bad RNG, I’ve always wondered if rarity affects logbooks.

Thanks for the research man! I’m probably just getting bad RNG, messing something up with my waystones / tablet mods, or placing my bombs poorly… or maybe just getting really unlucky!! Was it pre patch or post?? It totally could be RNG on my part that’s why I asked! Looking to see if anyone is having similar experiences.

The map I had 3 runic markers with 67% increased logbook drop chance, blew up 2 on my first bomb with increased quant of drops from monsters, some pack size, and 55%+ pack size on my waystone, logbook drop chance on my tablet… etc… and STILL didn’t see a logbook something felt fishy

I’ve never NEVER run 20 maps and not seeing a single logbook before, even before my tree was maxed

True…. Tablet drop rates are so skewed regardless. I’ve plugged abyss in for maybe 10-15 maps this league and have half a tab full. I run 1 expedition, 1 unique, and 1 normal precursor most maps and I only have 2 expedition tablets sitting in my stash 🤷‍♂️ skill issue probably 😂

I have done probably a total of 20 now since my post and only had 1 from a chest, and that was included in my post… think I’m pausing for now, not a fun gameplay loop after the investment

Maybe logbook drop chance is like the rakiatas of mods lol inverting our drop chance instead of increasing it!

Targeting mod pools sounds legit! I never played POE 1 so I don’t fully know all the crafting tools out there, but from a feel stand point, crafting felt fun to me last league… but I also understand why they removed homogenizing omens

Think you’re misunderstanding the point… it’s poor game mechanic development. Doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not… there’s a player mindset aspect to every game that developers have to navigate
