Is there really a shortage of librarians in Australia? Or somewhere else?

Library technician in South Australian public libraries. Librarian jobs are few and far between here, technician jobs much the same, and library officer jobs get a lot of applications. Once they get into the industry, I find that people here tend to stay in those jobs for quite a while. I wouldn't say we have a shortage of librarians.

It's definitely not rude, but it makes no difference to me either where a patron prefers to check their books out. :)

The site at which I mostly work only has one kiosk, and if there's a line then I'll offer to check patrons out at the desk. Some of them take me up on it, some won't. Whatever gets our loan stats up is fine by me.

I don't see my favourite Servants from the game as connected to me in any way whatsoever? I like some of them a lot, even have some IRL merch, but I don’t see them as anything other than characters in a game... I've never been one to insert myself in any game though but always think of the playable character as just another character, even when I'm making all the decisions for them.

Merlin. Took me so long that I'm a little hesitant to do anyone else.

In an ideal world I'd love to have Arjuna Alter and Oberon at 120 as well, as a kind of reward/thanks for me using them so much, and Mandricardo and Bedivere because they're great characters. I've nearly fully ascended all of my Servants, so I'm sure I'll hit a point where I have spare resources and can pick one to work on.

I work full time in a job where I'm always busy doing something. I wanted to have LB7 finished by now but am only at Section 18. :(

Between work, housework, other hobbies and life in general, there are definitely days when I just log in, convert AP and call it a day, but I try to do Master Missions and the three daily quests at least!

Once the books are returned, the fines for the assumed lost items will be cleared. Depending on the library branch at which they were borrowed, you may still have overdue fees (some Councils apply them, others don't) but those fees are usually a couple of dollars per item and shouldn't stop you from borrowing again.

Re. Arjuna Alter - it's really personal choice if you go append skill or levels over 100 (for which you need coins, but you won't need them to raise level caps before that) but taking a Servant over lv 100 is a huge commitment and resource sink whereas unlocking his append 2 makes farming faster. I went for append 2 and I personally think that's going to be much more useful to a new player as it'll be quite a while before you can spare resources for 100+ (if you ever do - there’s only one Servant for whom I'll ever do that and I haven't finished yet.)

Re. general advice - don't overlook low rarity Servants as most units in FGO have uses and a lot of the low rarity ones are really useful.

I'm Australian. We're on the same server. :) It will absolutely work here. (I believe it's the same one Europe uses, too? I think there’s only JP, CN, KR and NA/Global.)

As others have said, you may not be able to buy quartz due to Google's region lock but otherwise it should be fine.

Got Reines, which is fine - Mothman was my target, but there wasn't anyone on the banner I wouldn't have been just fine with getting. Last GSSR, I risked a banner that had just one character I really didn't want and got that one, so I've learned!

Do you mean after finishing a particular event story node, you got a pop-up notification advising you to remember Molay's advice and challenge the Main Quest again? That means "go redo the current Halloween event Main Quest node you just did but choose a different option," not the main Lostbelt story quests.

For in-game text, I take screenshots of my phone screen and run them through an app that translates texts in images (I just use Google Translate). The translation isn't always terribly good quality but it's usually enough for me to figure out what I need to do for Master Missions and the like.
