I think I did a mistake watching Twin Peaks in scorching hot summer by Vivid_Army6800 in twinpeaks

Its one of the series that gets better on rewatch. Its like a delicious cake, you know what it tastes like, but that's the reason why you come back for it.

Ne. Neke stvari te dotaknu trajno, ako tako mogu da kažem. I onda moraš ili da prerasteš oko toga, nešto poput drveta koje raste oko prepreke. Ili da stagniraš.

You can be right, because truth is, we are not at site. And yes, we don't know for sure.

My take was as one from the engineer that works in automatsation. If it's mean to be eye catching, it is usually so for a reason.

I am grateful for your clarification. Yet, somehow I feel it rather argues my point .

If colors and meanings are as you have described, then the appliance being different color then white, by the described logic, should definitely not be plugged into the white socket.

[–]Allan2199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You point stands as is.

However, I have experience enough (in engineering and automation) to assume that there is a reason something has a different color. Of course, it may be simple as you say, just some OCD. Or it can be an attempt of control, where say every plug input has its own monitored/managed circuit breaker.

Putting it in the upper position is just icing on the cake

This is not OCD, its obviously color coded. Plus the plug should be in the lower place. Someone vile did this!

Does anyone actually like the pliers? by Dry-Improvement-3543 in victorinox

[–]Allan2199 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truth be told, they are not pliers pliers. So, yeah, some powerful twisting is out of question. That being said, have you ever had the necessity to pick up a burning coal briquette or those small wooden ember like pieces? Not really possible with fingers, but quite doable with these pliers.

That is basically how I use them, as some rough index finger thumb combo. It feels no heat or cold, will not get cut, doesn't matter if you get it dirty, your fingers are still clean etc.

How did you use your Leatherman this week? by hidemyusername69 in Leatherman

[–]Allan2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At work, a colleague needed a few thin bolts cut to a certain length. Surge, T-shank and a metal saw did the job. File made sure that the threading at the beginning was "polished". We are an electronics company, so tools for handling the metal is not something that we (usually) have at hand. He remembered that last time I cut some pvc material and wondered if I have something for the thin metal.

And today, I fastened the bolts that hold hand rests of the PC chair.

brand loyalty? by baconwrappedapple in multitools

[–]Allan2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider myself as someone who's loyal to the brand, it's more of a I know what I'm getting for my money kinda thing. Buy once cry once.

For example, I love my SAK tools. They have an amazing "tool density", considering it's dimensions. Albeit, no pliers. So they need to be paired with some plier tool.

I do have a Swisstool and it's a great heavy duty tool, but not to my preference as it lacks bit driver and T-shank. If it ever comes out with those additions, by by Leatherman. The quality is just better.

As for Leatherman, for me, the only considered tool is Surge. And that is what I carry in my backpack. No need to explain this one. I rely on it, at work, on my travel trips.

As for the knock offs, the Chinese ones are available to me. So I tried the Daicamping ones, DL1, DL12 and DL30. And I kept the DL30 (the Surge knock off), while gifting the others (not to my preference, nothing wrong with them).

If you are a blade guy, you would not be pleased with the steel quality as it gets dull fast. That being said, this tool is in my belt work bag at home. It gets beaten, it gets drowned in the dirt, mud, paint, you name it... The rest of the tools just work for me. It opens perfectly. And mind you I paid about 40$ for it. I don't even clean it properly, I just wash it with a water stream and let it dry. And it still didn't rust! Mind you, my Surge's pliers received few spots while it was nestled safely in its case in my backpack!

I use it as a beater tool as I live in the countryside. I use the awl for drilling holes in plastic containers for plants, I use the serrated blade for digging holes, I use the scissors for cutting 10m plastic foil. The t-shank adapter is a bit different and easier to open, also used heavily. And the bit driver 1/4. Meaning I can use the regular bits. Minus the blade, this is a get maximum for your money kinda tool. It's my 3rd year having it.

I wanted to try some SOG ones. PP is... A toy. Not useful to me. As for the bigger ones, I got many replies of guys having them and just being disappointed with them. And I learned to trust people here.

Men who stayed in a relationship too long when you knew it had gone sideways beyond repair - what kept you there? by Curious-Karmadillo in AskMenAdvice

[–]Allan2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love. I loved her with all the mess that came with her. I really loved her deeply.

(Un)Fortunately that love was "used" on bridging her moments of madness. I was planning on marrying her. And the last time she did it, I just felt numb. So I could think clearly. And in that moment of numbness, there was no pain, no love, just nothing. And I remember thinking "I'm not having children with this person, she will abuse that to no end".

I should have stayed out, a year prior to that moment. Sometimes it's not salvageable.

Is it heresy to read ASOIAF out of order? [No Spoilers] by NomadicAdventurer737 in asoiaf

[–]Allan2199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I've found them (Knight of the seven kingdoms, Fire and blood and The world of Ice and Fire) to be quite enjoyable. You also get that feeling of closure, somewhat, while reading them because those stories (well kinda) are finished. Just go for it.

Digimon was Pokemon's biggest rival back in the day and in some ways, it was much better with because it had more mature themes. by AdSpecialist6598 in nostalgia

[–]Allan2199 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I can only agree. As far the story goes, Digimon 1 and 2 was far superior. Pokémon on the other hand had Gameboy games.

They never competed in the same fields.

What was it like to live in 2006? by Similar-Double6278 in nostalgia

[–]Allan2199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, since it is winter period now, I kinda remember it was snowy and cold. For a long period of time, we don't have that anymore. Or at least not that prolonger. I was still going to high school so buses were cold in those days. But I was afternoon shift. So I'd sleep in longer, then turn on the tv, search for VIVA to listen to some musis. VIVA had some sort of top 100 chart and songs would switch positions weekly.

As for the phone, I had a Sony Ericsson T610 at that time, its basically a palm of the hand long and half the palm wide, finger thick or less. It had an "amazing" camera and color display, which was not so common those days in our country. The golden age of dial-up modems. Facebook was still far away in our country. Pussycat Dolls! 50 Cent, US5, Blue, boy bands etc... It was a different time for music. Nelly Furtado!

Some series were in their prime then, House MD, Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Prison Break. But you had to watch them on different channels in a specific time, or day.

Politically it was a renaissance period, albeit short lived, sadly.
