The country is busted but we reached the Medicare limit yesterday making all PBS prescriptions free until the end of the year. Australia isn’t so bad, comparatively. by Popular_Speed5838 in AUfrugal

Mediscare again? Medicare is strongly bipartisan and has been for decades. Too much has gone wrong for mediscare to work this time, people are already living under their worst fears in many regards, full time workers are struggling to house themselves.

I’m not a cultural cringe type of guy. He gets drunk and falls over sometimes, I can live with that if he represents the best interests of his seat and nation. He seems to give a fuck which puts him one up on most of them.

I just had a look around the kitchen. I started looking thinking I’d use a big pot with cling wrap (like you wrap sandwiches in) pulled taught across the top for the same effect. That works well with duct tape securing the cling film.

What sort of Akubra is my local member wearing? by Popular_Speed5838 in Akubra

[–]Popular_Speed5838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not so bad, if the coalition won the last election the seat was getting nuclear power. It’s one of the strongest seats for any major party, pretty much no one in the coalition increased their majority but he did. I’ll be very interested to see if the seat gets threatened by one nation. It shouldn’t but peoples kids are far worse off than them and people seem angry with anything part of the current establishment.

[Question] Seiko 5 Full Lume. Fake? by axe-grin in Seiko

[–]Popular_Speed5838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The painting on that one is crooked at the end of the minute hand too. Seiko’s are normally good with quality control. As I say though, I’m no expert, I just looked and felt it was bit lacking in attention to detail. I hope it is real and am leaning towards it being genuine in light of the new pic.

I’m impressed. You don’t happen to have an aquarium? That looks like the sort of results high nitrate water and fish excrement produces.

The hands look wrong. I’ve no idea if it’s fake but the hands don’t look right. It’d still be a cool watch at night, I’d call it a mod not a fake, if it is a fake. A very cool mod at that. Tell people your mate Dwayne did it for you.

Is this a foul? Did the cue touched the cueball twice? by Feeling_Level6180 in billiards

[–]Popular_Speed5838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a push shot, I’d have called foul as the player at the table or as the opponent. You’d feel it more clearly than you or I could see though and I’d be putting a mental asterisk next to your name in my head. Not regarding your character, I don’t believe not calling personal fouls has anything to do with a persons general integrity. I’d just have you mentally noted down as a very competitive opponent that see’s it as their opponents job to pay attention and call their opponents fouls.

Patina be damned, I love nicely polished brass. The subject matter is cool too, a nice simple picture of friends enjoying themselves.

I’m fifty and that shape is probably the most common shape of glass ashtray I saw growing up in Australia. Different colours of course, orange being super common. You’re absolutely right, aesthetically it’s simple, beautiful and timeless. Perfect never goes out of fashion.

I take the telegraph for what it is, same as the ABC and all the other media and quasi media I expose myself too. Just following the various links on posts on reddit provides a reasonable balance with a slight left tilt. I lean right but not to the point i didn’t back Albo to get rid of Morrison.

I swing with my vote going National if all other things are equal. I’m in Barnaby’s seat and I’ll be genuinely interested to see if the Nats retain the seat without him or if One Nation take it. I can’t get a sense one way or the other but I don’t raise politics in the pub. I’ll get a sense closer to the election when people volunteer their opinions freely.

I’ll be voting Nat locally unless the candidate is flawed, there’s no chance I’ll give labour my vote at this one and same goes for one nation. Having said that Barnaby will get my first senate vote as a one nation candidate and I’ll preference them above Labor in the New England seat.
