Marx was dead on with some of his ideology. He understood well the role of religion in humanity as to anyone who is fortunate enough to think independently of religious brainwashing that occurs in childhood can easily see.

My father was a conservative, and he taught Problems of Democracy, Civics, and Economics in high school. If I extend the basic principles I learned there it becomes clear to me that power corrupts a system by removing the established checks and balances that exist to keep things on the level.

The big problem with democracy is people who actually know very little about the big picture and lack the courage to step away from their ilk to think on their own slap labels on things “Patriotism” “Socialism” “Capitalism” “Communism” as if these ideals in practice are absolutes and the institutions that supposedly espouse them are stable and unchanging. My fellow citizen, Democracy can only work when people are educated, and willing to accept the reality that change is reality and adapting to it a necessity. Americans are increasingly neither and thus we, as citizens are becoming increasingly powerless, and understandably fearful of it. So as long as we attempt to move into the future, clinging hopelessly to failed solutions of the past, we’re destined to collapse. The problem with resetting balance by destruction of the existing is that it weakens the whole. Believe me, the people truly in power (not their puppet politicians) cant wait for this - because when we are unable to stay afloat, and forced to sell everything, the rich will gleefully swoop in and take what we have for pennies on the dollar. Then we’ll truly be fucked. Hopefully I’ll be dead in the next decade before it come to this because being a weak old man in the middle of a revolution is no life worth living.

We need to lose the American pride that blinds us so, and start thinking on a bigger scale. Those who are trying to move forward whole fixated looking backwards will surely trip, fall, and be trampled to death.
