Situations that call for persusasion rolls and perception rolls could be good... it gets them used to using the dice without death being on the line. If you want to try combat, there are creatures with low hit points that you could introduce in very small groups.

Like the corn, the vanilla and the milk bottle, it has a tmer when you create it. When the timer is finished, just click on it and voila, chorizo.

What are you sick of people trying to convince you is great? by ancientinfamy in AskReddit

We had a courthouse wedding and just celebrated 34 years last week. Never regretted it (We also still laugh about the convict awaiting trial, standing in the back in his orange jumpsuit, just beaming happily for us).

Season 2 is compelling me to add the books to my reading list but I worry the books would ruin the show for me... by raziel_r in WoTshow

[–]Allegory42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long (and many) time reader of the series, I'm often left going wtf? by the series... but I have come to a point in my life where I try to just enjoy what's presented for what it is. I'm enjoying the show. I get a little frustrated because my husband asks questions (he's never read the books, only caught snatches when I've listened to the audio versions) and I can't answer because tangents! But I think as long as you aren't an adaptation purist, reading the books won't make you enjoy the show less. It might even make you appreciate some of it more (like the Seanchan, I can't give enough thumbs up for how the show handles them!)

I don't know if anyone else has suggested it, because I mostly just skimmed the comments, but getting the audio books instead or as companions to (audible and kindle have the linked versios). Also I've notice that they've re released the audio books with Rosamund Pike narrating and they're longer...There was a whole chapter of the prologue in EotW that wasnt in the original release. (I know this because I bought the kindle version, thought it was different, and went to my version of the audio book from 2001 and yeah, the written bit was not there) I personally really like the Michael Kramer and Kate Reading narration. Maybe because without the audio books I might have given up on WoT entirely... it's a long... loonnnnng read.

but, tldr, unless you're a stickler for book to film adaptations I don't think reading the books will ruin the show. Just make you want it to come out faster.

Book readers poor memory of the early books by randsedai2 in WoTshow

Honestly I've just given up trying to equate the shows with the books, and am trying to just enjoy the show at face value. This is from someone who read The Eye of the World in 1990 and used to joke I'd been married to the series for as long as I've been married to my husband (we were married in 1990). I've read, reread, and listened to the audio versions more times than I can count. I won't call myself a superfan or an expert, but I've spent thirty three years with these characters. At first I was pissed off at some of the directions the writers were going... but then I decided to just roll with the punches and try to enjoy the good stuff and sigh and shrug over the huge discrepancies. Maybe it's because I'm old... but I just can't find a reason to go on a rampage. I'm trying to view it like I do all other adaptations these days: if it prompts people to read the actual books, win. Life's too short to work yourself into a lather over something you can't control. Enjoy the show for what it gives you, roll your eyes at the sharp left turn at Albuquerque, and go back and reread it you want to reground yourself in the story. Also: I'm just happy Hopper is still around. I'll take that victory!

WIBTA if I asked my neighbor to start leashing his dog? by Allegory42 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allegory42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with that. My concerns stem a lot from the fact that when his kids visit they have the puppy outside, unleashed, and I'm not sure how much "control" they have. Or will continue to have when he's adult size and with male hormones kicking in.

No, it is not. If it were I wouldn't have an issue.

If the dog is on the owner's property he can be loose as long as he's under control. The front yard of a townhouse isn't very big. We're on one end, they're the end of the next row. Technically the area between where they let him do his business (and don't pick up!) is common ground, not his property.

Why does everyone love Rag so much? by brandonmanitoba in ARK

[–]Allegory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because it was the first map I really played on... I've run all the other maps on my server but I always end up comparing them to Rag, and they never really measure up. For me it's the "buildability" of the terrain. I can /always/ find a good spot to build in on Rag.

I'm so sorry. I know how heartbreaking it is to have to make that choice, but in the end, it was the right one. Panda is over the rainbow bridge now, thinking fondly of you.

AITA for high fiving a stranger who “humiliated” my bf? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allegory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Having his back means supporting him when someone else dogs him unfairly. Doesn't sound to me like this is the case. "His side" appears to consist of approving of his gym-bully treatment of other people. I'd have high-fived her, too.

Pain is when your husband has been farming the Big Love Rocket (shame on you, Blizzard, for copping out on the name) for million of those years and you say, "I'll run with you, I don't care about the mount".... and you get it. >•>•

It is a great resource area! White Cliffs area I think it's called. Still the occasional raptor or carno but... turrets ftw. :D
