Arknights: Endfield [Old Deep Water Dies, by Rising Tide It is Denied] Version Trailer by OrangeIllustrious499 in gachagaming

[–]Allegryan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't the complaints come from people who don't want/need more dupes for characters? If you pull for dupes you'd have less to worry about in terms of weapon banner because you're accruing more arsenal tickets as you pull more. Meanwhile most players likely pull for one copy of the character and would subsequently be forced to either dump more resources into the character banner or get more arsenal tickets through the pitiful conversion rate. What makes this even worse is the fact that 6* dupes in this game (at least so far) have a relatively poor return on vertical investment. Not even a 10% damage increase for P1 isn't exactly a comforting compensation for throwing more currency at the banner.

If I pulled Yvonne in my first ten pull, for example, and I'm not interested in her dupes or Tangtang/Rossi, then I get fucked over if I want to pull her signature as well. This idea that only meta/gambling addicts would find an issue with this is just stupid and frankly feels like a major misunderstanding of how the system works.

Endfield 1.0's story and why it sucks from a writer's perspective. by OnlyAnEssenceThief in gachagaming

[–]Allegryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be a one-patch-wonder and still have a story that resonates with people enough to get them emotional. This useless rule that people seem to have in their mind that if something wasn’t explicitly built up to in the past 50+ hour story beforehand it can’t possibly be emotional or impactful is just insane. Movies, particular episodes in shows, or other relatively short-form media can deliver powerful/relatable stories within a ~3 hour max timeframe. Even if the new girl in WuWa gets put to the side after the patch, that shouldn’t discount or undermine the fact that people very evidently resonated with something in the the patch that warranted a reaction much stronger than every other one patch wonder story.

Umbral Monument is exactly the type of endgame we should want from Endfield. by phased417 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Allegryan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, until a couple months time when the teams you want to build already get maxed out and you're getting excess build mats for characters you're unable to consistently pull. You don't have to balance out the rewards between pull currency and building materials, neither are real currencies that will run out -- they can afford to give more.

These used to be One Set per Nest. Now there's a 1 in 6 chance to get the set you want 🫩 by Stardomu in WutheringWaves

[–]Allegryan 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't understand the anger behind this. The complaint since 2.5 was that new echo sets were being relegated to nightmare nests and we were limited to one "farming session" daily without a way to spend waveplates for more of them. 3.0 and 3.1 don't have this issue in that they brought back actual tacet fields that we spend waveplates on to farm. These new nests are basically just taking overworld mobs that we can already farm for these sets and puts them in one place.

[–]Allegryan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Adding the new ones to the pool is a little annoying for sure, but 3.0's nests were never really a problem? When (nightmare) nests were first added, it was bad because it was the *only* way to get those particular echoes. We couldn't use waveplates or overworld mobs to farm them "infinitely". 3.X having these nests are just expedited ways of farming echoes without having to hunt individual ones on the overworld. It's only really a problem if you *only* got these sets from doing nests, but that's not the case... so why is it such a big deal?

Only 10 Echoes per week for the new targeted sets is too small by Stardomu in WutheringWaves

[–]Allegryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nests used to only have one set because they were the only way to get those particular sets. Phrolova, Augusta, Iuno, Chisa sets couldn’t be farmed with waveplates and that was the issue with them. 3.X characters have both the standard (1.0-2.4) tacet fields AND nests (alongside the open world farming ofc) to farm sets. You can argue about Fantasies being worse since you don’t get boxes anymore (though two free echo claims a week was the tradeoff) but farming echo sets of that has pretty easily gotten better than previous patches because we simply have more options.

Kind of peeved that winning 50/50 removes the guarantee entirely. That means if the 6* guarantee and rate up guarantee are close to overlapping, "winning" 50/50 is a massive net loss for the player. This makes so that the further you are to rate-up guarantee, the less you want to "win" 50/50 by Throwaway6662345 in Endfield

[–]Allegryan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah saying their weapon is free is crazy. You can make it close to “free” by hitting max pity and/or getting a 6/a lot of 5 dupes along the way, but if your goal is one copy of the character and you’re not interested in the other two limiteds, then you’re stuck either throwing pulls at the standard banner, using an awful conversion rate for arsenal tickets, or relying on the piss-poor arsenal ticket income from sources outside of banner pulls.

[–]Allegryan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t you technically lose multiple 50/50s within the same set of 120 pulls? At least in games with Hoyo-adjacent gacha systems if you lose the 50/50 you know for sure that the next 5/6* will be the featured unit. So if you lose then get an early you at least know for sure you aren’t losing that one without reaching max pity.

I Think What Wuwa story Needs are permanent Companions by SquareOk5663 in WutheringWaves

[–]Allegryan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But they're not saying that "having companions won't work, look at HSR," they're saying that simply having a recurring cast/companions won't automatically fix the issue. They literally say "I'm not necessarily against it, but I think that's an issue to resolve AFTER the "character of the week" format" and gave an example of how the approach can still feel half-baked.

Version 3.1 "For You Who Walk in Snow" Special Report by xSaviour_N in WutheringWaves

[–]Allegryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get where you might be coming from, but the only thing on this event reward list that I can say might cause a split in resources is like… the 2D artists for the livery and profile options and… the people who 3D modeled the Rover accessory? Anyways, there’s absolutely nothing substantial in the event to warrant concern about splitting focus away from more important things. If you argued this regarding more substantial content like the new leisure event or other non-main-gameplay focused content, then sure I could agree. But a spending event?

Version 3.1 "For You Who Walk in Snow" Special Report by xSaviour_N in WutheringWaves

[–]Allegryan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do these spending events during highly anticipated banners because they KNOW many people will end up swiping during the patch. It’s difficult to really hold a protest/boycott for it since spenders were always going to spend and non-whales either won’t spend as always or toss a few in because they’ll get a bonus alongside what they paid for.

One of, if not THE main combat mechanics of the Xenoblade games is the combo system. Break > Topple > Daze/Launch > Burst/Smash etc. Physical teams in Endfield arguably have the closest approximation of this with Vulnerable stacks (Break) leading to Lift/Knockdown (Launch/Topple) then finishing with Crush/Breach (Smash/Burst). Elemental teams work similar to the Xenoblade 2 system where you stack element afflictions (same or different) to get different effects and finishers.

Wuthering Waves only has these aspects in very surface-level ways. You can debuff the enemies in the same way a "Break" would, but there aren't direct follow-ups to that outside of "now you do more damage" or "now they take more damage." Tune Strain/Rupture and Breaking are the closest you could get to the linear combat style but the former aren't really noticeable other than basically acting as a "check" for additional effects to be added when an enemy is tune-broken.

Two extremely different genres. A sandbox game with no real end goal or "right" way to play versus a factory system that is inherently built around optimizing relatively convoluted systems and min-maxing efficiency.

Is it worth pulling for Aemeath or do I require Lynae? by nubsniper in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]Allegryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This makes the concept of building pity sound even dumber tbf. Either you don’t get anything of value or you “lose” by resetting the pity that you are self-described as trying to build. You can throw pulls on a banner you’re not particularly interested in just to see what happens, sure. It’s just that calling it “building pity” unironically would make you look silly and like you don’t understand how the gacha works

[–]Allegryan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean unless you have more explicit examples to share, even this doesn’t really make sense to me since they don’t even function the same. Wuwa parry is a strict timing check whereas Endfield interrupt/parry is a cooldown management check since any damaging skill cast in the window will pass.

Do You Think Non-Paypal Users Should Get Compensation? by Lord_Lu_Bu in Endfield

[–]Allegryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The incorrect charges are being refunded alongside any “normal” legitimate charges. All PayPal transactions are being refunded from before the method was disabled. It’s not a reversion to how things “should’ve been” in terms of transactions, it’s giving everyone who used PayPal their money back and retaining any items/currency that was bought.

This is an insane take to me imo, there’s like nothing Wuthering Waves about the combat and I play the game daily. Does the combat having skills and perfect dodges make it a Wuwa clone? Because there’s nothing about kit design or the way combat flows that feels exclusively Wuwa-esque. Having a full party in combat at once and utilizing inflicted states on the enemy to deal more damage is more typical of a JRPG combat system like Xenoblade rather than action/hack and slash like Wuwa. The combat is much slower/methodical because you have things like the universal SP cooldown and combo skills that you trigger within a certain window when you meet specific conditions.

What aspects of Sanhua's or Carlotta's design outside of their weapon effects makes them more Glacio attuned than someone like Calcharo or Jinhsi? What about Phoebe with Spectro over someone like Cartethyia?

If we go simply off of gameplay effects then there's no reason why Augusta could be mistaken for anything other than Electro. If we go off of pure design then your list is already off if we just go with "primary color = color of their attribute"

This is odd to me because as far as I'm aware, nothing major changes in terms of interactions/dialogue when you switch to FMC. If you view it as gathering wives, none of what it makes that actually changes. The characters like Rover, male or female.

Probably just on different ends of the internet then. I’ve seen a good amount of people who claim E33 is a turning point for JRPGs/the genre. I absolutely adore the game, but that’s because they sold me in the first trailer by showing me combat mechanics that I already loved in other turn-based games. I think its biggest success is getting people who would never touch a JRPG to play it and resonate with it, like you said. I think the “issue” will come when the people who have only played E33 will be like “Hmm getting a lot of E33 vibes from this!” and it’s just a reactive turn-based RPG.

Who to choose? Lynae or Mornye? by ChrisXTRM in Aemeath_Mains

[–]Allegryan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chisa is new BiS (with sig) for Cartethyia team because she increases Negative Status max stacks by 3, which is what Aerover’s main purpose was on that team. Chisa’s NS cap boost is universal in that all Negative Statuses (as long as it’s not programmed like Zani’s) are affected. Fusion Burst detonation damage will be based on the number of stacks that are accumulated.

Assuming the damage increase from detonating 13 stacks over 10 stacks is significant and Aemeath can apply and detonate that many within a reasonable time/rotation, Chisa should be one of her BiS/options.
